Try uninstalling Sound Forge with a third-party uninstaller that can remove leftover register entries, folders and other obsolete data. (the OS uninstall leaves much of this 'trash' behind). Then reinstall SF. I recommend the Revo Uninstall, both the freeware version and pro version work well.

Do all file formats produce that behavior? Can you post the file somewhere like Dropbox or other file sharing site. At least post the file's MediaInfo.
