If you are wearing headphones and your speakers are turned off you should only get your voice. Make sure you are recording on a new track in the time line.
Have you tried to record with an other software, by example AUDACITY (freeware). Have you the same problem?
Stupid question : When you do a second record, if you use the same track, do you have overlap with the first one or do you begin after the end of the first one?
THE VOCALS, FOR EXAMPLE, WILL RECORD ON THE FIRST LINE.
THEN WHEN IWANT TO RECORD THE INSTRUMENT,IT HAS ALWAYS RECORDED
ON THE LINE BELOW IT. NOW THE VOCALS RE-RECORD WITH THE INSTRUMENT.
OR IN CAN RECORD THE INSTRUMENT FIRST.
NO MATTER HOW I RECORD EITHER FIRST OR SECOND IT DOES THE
SAME THING.
Check what is the input you record. Depending on your sound interface, generaly it could be :
. microphone : what you have to select in your case
. line input : if you use a micro amplifier by exemple
. "What you listen" : could be perhaps selected at the moment. In this case you record your microphone and what is played by MMM, ie your first record.
Double click on the speaker in the task bar of windows (right bottom corner). Properties, input, select the items to display and check what is the selected input for recording : you must have microphone only which is not in mute, all other previous items must be "mute".
You can also access to this control in MMM, in the recording sub menu by "volume control".
