record internal audio

I am trying to record internal audio on my laptop without a dedicated sound card. Whenever I click record I get a terrible feedback loop. Is there a proper way to set this up so that I don't hear any audio loop? Do I need to disable the mic so that it doesn't affect the audio via the listen path? Any suggestions would help.

Sound Forge Audio Studio

Version 16.1.1.

(aka, record what you hear)

Runaway feedback usually occurs when 'Monitor' is enabled whilst recording. Go to "View> Record Options" and set the Monitor to 'OFF".
If you need to see the input levels in the Record Options window prior to 'rolling tape', enter the 'record ready' mode with the 'Arm' command in the 'Transport' menu, keyboard shortcut or the 'Arm' icon in the 'Transport' toolbar.

Thank you kindly, my friend. By the way, I am long-time user of Sound Forge -- so glad to come back to this community. Trying now.
