Re-registering/transferring Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus registration on another computer?

Good morning,

I couldn't find any definitive information regarding this question on the other threads and manuals:  I have Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus installed on one computer a few years ago, and still use it quite a bit.  I recently obtained a new computer, and I want to transfer my registration to the new computer.  I still have my serial # and registration information available.

Can I just uninstall MEP 15 Plus from my old computer first so I can complete the registration on the new one (and before I re-format my old computer)?

Or do I need to call Magix Customer Support and ask them to "unregister" the program from my old computer?  If I have to do that, is there a way to just do that online (e.g. during the uninstall phase)?

Thanks in advance!!

Jon

I suggest you install and activate the program on the new system first... make sure everything is working properly, when once this is verified, you should uninstall the other.

This way, if something doesn't go right, you have a working solution still if necessary while troubleshooting the install on a new system.

I do not think you need to contact CS unless there is an issue with your serial number.

Thanks for the feedback John!  I did what you suggested:  Managed to install and activate successfully, and everything seems to be working perfectly.  Although during activation, I was getting a "Serial Number already used" error message.  However, that was because of a typo on my part during registration/activation... I resolved that issue and now everything works great.

Although not directly related to my OP, I thought other users might benefit from the procedures on how I managed to resolve the "Serial Number already used" issue:

After successfully installing MEP 15 on my new machine (without uninstalling from my old machine yet) I couldn't activate/update MEP and various codecs (i.e. mpeg-4, .mov) because I kept getting an error message saying "Serial Number already used".  I was going to reply back saying "nope that didn't work... do I still need to uninstall first... or call customer service" when I decided to check the registration information on the old install and compared it to the new install.  Everything was the same, except for one little typo I hadn't noticed when trying to activate the new install (In my case I had accidentally clicked the wrong birth date... yeah, I know!)

When I corrected the typo, I was able to successfully activate, update, and download.  So apparently, when you activate/re-register on a new computer, the registration information has to be EXACTLY the same as how it was done during the first install (and you can update that information online also if you need to).

Thanks again!
