Question About Saving Multiple Tracks of a Vinyl Rip in SFAS 13

Lawrence-Wilson wrote on 6/21/2019, 11:53 AM

I am currently on a trial of Sound Forge Audio Studio 13.0 to determine whether to purchase it for vinyl ripping. Capturing and laying out tracks goes just fine, but I can't find a way to split the full file into individual tracks for encoding to MP3.

There was something for this in the previous version of Audio Studio 12, but they've either buried it or taken it out entirely, which doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. I've tried ripping through the Vinyl Restoration Wizard (?), but something seems to be putting intermittent beeping into the audio file. As it stands now, I can record just fine, but I have to do the actual splitting elsewhere, which is annoying.

I know this feature has to be in the program somewhere (the manual actually refers to the procedure used for 12.0, "Export Regions," but that option isn't where it should be on 13.0 if it was actually included.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, as I really do like the program apart from this issue...

@Lawrence-Wilson

Welcome to the Magix forums.

I don't have or use Sound Forge but you say you are running the trial version of SFAS 13. As a general rule, the trial versions of all Magix products deliberately have some features or add-ons only available or installable once the product is purchased. I have no idea whether this is the case in your situation; hopefully a user of SFAS 13 will see your post and be able to give you more definite information.

EDIT: to add, your mention of the "beeping noise" may well be because that particular facility, "Vinyl Restoration Wizard" is only available for full unrestricted use once the program has been purchased and registered.

Sound Forge Audio Studio 12 had an 'Export a MP3 song list option'. I would assume it is on AS-13 as well.
AS 12 and 13 also have the 'Events' and 'Slice' mode which can be helpful for laying out song lists for CDs and such. I'm not sure if AS has the 'Export Regions' feature like SF Pro. In SF Pro, it is in the 'Tools' menu. Otherwise, there are ways to work around it, though it may take longer.

The 'beeps' are a restrictive measure in the demo version or an unregistered plug-in. They should go away when it is authorized with a registration/serial number.

Then that begs the question as to why they are called "fully functioning demos." Especially considering that I am also using the demo version of Sound Forge Pro 13 and have had absolutely none of these problems.

As it stands, although my budget would be severely stretched by buying the Pro version, it would appear that that would be the way to go, as SFAS 13 is all but unusable for my purposes in its current form, and I believe it would not be wise to spend additional money on it to see if the desired functionality actually does exist.
