Pugins missing

Ness76 wrote on 7/2/2020, 11:44 PM

I have the steam edition of Music Maker and I seem to be missing my plugins. When I click on an instrument a window pops up:

The following VST plug-in can not be loaded

DN-e1

It then starts playing a tune from the keyboard

Thinking this is problem is from an update? How can I fix this. I have automatic updates selected in steam

@Ness76

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Which exact version and variant of MM do you have?

I'm not sure how this works with the Steam version but sometimes when MM updates it is necessary to check the Downloads tab in case any instruments, soundpools etc. also require updating.

I realised I had the free version open. I opened the other one (2017)

I am having this problem with a number of the sounds in my Sound Pools. I have been using MM since 2011. I upgraded for the 4th time at the end of 2020, I think. I have years of soundpools from my previous versions, and there are problems with a lot of the older ones. I think it is because this newest "upgrade" seems to be missing most, if not all, of the VST instruments I had in the previous version, even though it was supposed to be an "upgrade" to the same level of the new version. Is there any way to use my old instruments with the newer version? Or is there some download to the program that I missed somewhere? I have looked all through the store.

@unswerving I was able to transfer all my old instruments by entering the serial numbers of previous Music Maker versions into my newer version of Music Maker. If I remember it correctly I was able to reactivate all instruments back to version Music Maker MX. I think I did this in Music Maker 2018 or 2019. I believe in the current version Music Maker 2022 you can only go back and activate from version 2015 or newer.

So, it might still work in version 2018/19 with your older versions. I would suggest you download these older versions from the internet and install them and try it out.

I will try that, but I still have MM2016 installed on my old comp. I didn't want to uninstall until I was sure I could still do all the same stuff in the new version, and it's good I waited, because I really can't work with any of my old music in the new MM without having parts missing. I just wish I knew what DN-e1 meant! I also am missing the Vita plug-in, as it turns out. The Revolta patches still work, though they look blank in the Loop viewer. I've actually been using MM since 2007 - upgraded in 2011, 2013, 2016, and then end of 2020 to my current version, so that's a looooooot of sound pools I bought from Magix over the years. Are long-time customers like me so rare that they didn't care if the new version broke the old stuff? Okay, going to go try your suggestion.

@unswerving That sounds great! 😃👍

You don't need to uninstall version 2016 and I think it is a good idea to have it on your computer.

Dn-e1 is a subtractive synthesizer in Music Maker. You need to install it from the store.

All your Soundpools should work fine, it's possible that some loops need Vita 2 installed from the store to be able to be loaded.
