You have Proxy editing in the newer versions of MEP+

If you have MEP 2014 or later the option to create proxy files is in the Projects settings (E key)

 

Earlier versions do not have the ability to use proxy files.

When posting please give the name and version of the program you are referring to, Windows version and your computer specification.
