@Sally-Weigand

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Inevitable question: have you reactivated PS on the original computer?

Since I was unable to open the program on the original computer I did not see any way to reactivate it. Do I do this on the Magix website? I have a CD for Photostory rather than a download.

Hello Sally,

You previously deactivated your Photostory and want to start using it again on the same computer. I assume that you have not uninstalled Photostory.

If so, this please do the following:

  • click on the Photostory Deluxe shortcut
  • Activate it with your P3 serial number / email address
  • click on Register and activate online now
  • your Photostory will now be activated

Good Luck, Rob

PS. Magix Photostory have two license. You can install, register and activate Magix Photostory on two computers.

Hi

. . . . I have a CD for Photostory rather than a download. . . .

What version of Photostory is this?

. . . . Now I cannot open the program on the original computer. . . .

Have you installed Photostory on a new computer and activated it?

To answer the last 2 comments, I don’t have a shortcut on the desktop.

No, I did not install it on a 2nd computer even though that was my intention. Now I see that it can be done but I don’t need to.

I did not uninstall it from the original computer.

The version on my CD is 2018 but that may have had an update.

the registration begins with 2P.

Hi

. . . . CD is 2018 . . . . the registration begins with 2P . . . .

Do you mean the serial number begins with P2- ?

For Photostory 2018 this means you are using the wrong serial number for Photostory 2018 - Magix serial numbers used P2- xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx serial numbers up to 2013 and were replaced by the P3- series in 2014.

You can should be able to check your registered version serial number and also download, by browsing to magix.com - click the Account login icon top right of the homepage, login with the email address and password you registered the software with and select My Products.

I was mistaken about the serial number: it begins with P3. Should I uninstall what is on my computer before going to the Magix site & downloading this program?

@Sally-Weigand

Hi

. . . . Should I uninstall what is on my computer  . . . .

I would suggest you do the following:

  1. Download the installer

  2. use Revo Uninstaller Free to uninstall the existing installation - start the uninstall from within Revo

  3. when uninstall is complete Revo will offer to scan and remove files and folders left behind and registry entries - only select those entries that relate to Photostory if you have more than one Magix product installed.

  4. Reboot the computer and then install the Photostory.

Hallo Sally,

Before you go to uninstall and install Photostory, just press the Windows flag and see if by chance Magix Photostory is listed there. If that is the case, click on it. Maybe Photostory will start up.

Good luck, Rob.

Thanks for the last 2 comments. I clicked the Windows icon and Photostory is not listed there so I will uninstall it and reinstall it as suggested.
