I had a problem where downloading the exe for Music Maker (and presumably other products) would cause Google to crash.

I fixed this by going into the settings of Google, and turning off "Ask where to save each file before downloading" which is found under advanced settings. Having looked for a solution I am aware that there were previous posts which seemed to have a similar problem, so hopefully this is helpful.
