Problems with recording

Hello! I have problem with recording! Im usin Magix 2013, I have Shure mic and Behringer UMC22 soundcard. Im trying to record vocals and I can do it but I can hear my recording only from one earplug and generally micro level is very low, I almost dont hear anything... I have been checking all the balances and volumes in my comp etc and everything seems to be ok! What might be a problem?

Unless the microphone is a stereo mic ie has two seperate capsules for left and right, then it is a mono device and will only record on one channel only.

You can fix this using the Stereo Processor in MMM and duplicate the recorded channel to the empty one and use the balance control to position the sound on the audio stage.

Check the Behringer manual for microphone levels - there may be an option for using high / low output microphones. Also check the Windows Mixer controls for the recording input being used (USB?) and that the level is set correctly.

Hi,

Your UMC22 is not a sound card in the sense that a sound card would be in the computer. It is an external preamp interface, correct?

You have to monitor by plugging your headphones into the UMC22 and adjusting the monitor gain for a mix of direct (from the mic directly) and USB, that is, soumd that comes from the computer.

Your mic is connected to only 1 channel, probably the left. If there is no stereo/mono switch on the interface, then you will only hear the mic on one side.

When you record, make sure that you sent the recording parameter to mono.

You also need a good Asio driver. If one did not come with the interface, then download from the Internet and install ASIO4ALL, and set it in the program settings.

The gain is set on the interface for your mic.
