problem with sound not exactly matching image

lucseawalker wrote on 3/31/2012, 1:57 AM

When I upload my raw footage from the camcorder as an MPEG file, later when I include it in a project ... it seems that there is a slight offset between sound and image!

How can I avoid that offset? It is very annoying to have to manually move the audio track in relation to the video track!

Anyone can help?

Hi

1. Make you sure you hve this option checked

2. Select all the video clips and then right click and select option as shown in this image

3. If 2 does not work use GSpot or MediaInfo to analyse one of the mpg and post the results for the audio and video here.

Hi John,

Thank you for your input.

As far as solution #1 , I believe that option was checked before ... not sure as I modified lots of options recently to try to fix the problem. I just made a test film now with my 3 non-HD cameras and with my 1 HD camera. I filmed a spoon tapping a glass. I will now compare the results between the 4 camera shots and play with the Edit Pro settings again. I will use your method #2.

I will keep you posted ... Thank you for your help!

Since yesterday, I have now another audio problem! I cannot hear teh soundtrack in the arranger, neither the original soundtrack neither the music I put on a new track. Funny thing is that I can hear the music when I listen to it in the little screen on top left but once I oput it into the project, no sound anymore!!

Hi John,

My little test with my 4 cameras all show fine when I filmed at the beginning of each tape. So I wonder if there is a drift during the filming on a 1-hour filming .. because the offset does not seem constant!

I looked at method #2 and yes, I did have the correct file already made.

I looked at the long film I did with cultural dancing directly in VLC and it played fine, no sound offset :)

Then I put that film in a new Magix project, and it looks fine now! :) Not sure what I did different but it looks as the problem is solved for now :)

Thanks for all the help

Hi

Should have asked earlier which version of MEP are you using and is it updated to the latest patch?

There were problems with sound sync with NTSC material in MEP16 and 17 which were corrected.

Are you recording at 30 fps and the project is 29.97 fps or vice versa?

John
