Preview of Video has no sound and ouputs blank video

craigba wrote on 9/18/2017, 3:13 AM

Hi all,

Hoping that it's an easy fix. I recently reinstalled my laptop and am trying to get RYVT 2 to work.

The video preview works perfectly - I can watch the video, but there are 2 problems - a) No Sound b) When I save the video, it just has a black screen

I am yet to try another set of RCA (Composite) cables - What else can I try? Hopefully the Hardware isn't busted?

Hi

We need more information:

  1. Computer specification - processor make/model, graphics card or chipset, RAM,  hard drive configuration, sizes and free space?

  2. Windows version and is it up to date?  Press and hold down the Windows key and the R key - in the dialog that opens type in winver and press enter.

  3. Software full name and version number - as found under Help, About . . .

Also please read this post before replying and add any other information you think may be relevant.

Okay, so on another set (set up YEARS ago), it works okay still, so not the hardware... I updated all drivers and fiddled with some settings and got the Video Working. Still a problem with the audio. What Audio device does it use? Windows Sounds work okay...

Hi

. . . . What Audio device does it use? Windows Sounds work okay... . . . .

What is the USB capture device (video grabber) make/model/colour and does it have one USB output lead or two output leads ie a USB and a 3.5mm stereo jack.

Did you compare the capture settings on the computer that works with those on the one where the audio is missing?

Is the Stereo mixer enabled in the sound card settings?

Hi, thanks for your continued feedback...

It is a red USB VideoWandler - just USB - no other output leads...

Tried using the same speakers from the working one with the non-working one and still the same...

Settings the same and still a problem...

@craigba

You say Windows Sound is working OK, but is it set up to receive audio from your USB input? Open thew Windows Sound Properties panel and check the "Recording Devices". There should be an entry there for your USB device; it may need to be enabled.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks... Below is all that I have: How can I enable this as a recording device (I used RYVT before I formatted this machine, so it is possible :)

Hi

. . . . red USB VideoWandler . . . .

This device should appear as the source for both video and audio in RYVT when you set up for recording.

I presume you mean the red/white VideoWandler, if so then try updating the USB devices drivers with those here.

Hi John, not 100% sure what you mean here - Can you post a screenshot of what you mean?

Thanks for all your help so far...

I no longer have RYVT installed, however when you select to import videos from analog sources the VideoWandler should appear in the dropdown list and you have the option for Composite or S-Video input for video, audio is automatically taken care of as the device handles the audio to USB conversion as well. My USB video converter (non Magix device) did not do this.

Which output from the VHS player are you using Composite (via SCART or individual RCA jacks) or S-Video?

Have you updated the USB VideoWandler drivers?

Hi John,

Funnily enough the drivers suggested here are the 2009 drivers that work on the other machine, but cause no output on this machine (video preview is okay though)

On the drop down it says:

Magix Videowandler 3 (USB D Show)

Hi guys, any further ideas on this... Like I said, it works on another machine, but that machine eats electricity (an expensive commodity here)
