Please Help ! Original recorded material lost with program crash.

Music Maker Premium newest update just did a most EPIC fail. The program doesn't (or rarely at best) performs auto-backups. In this case it was backing up every 4 minutes but stopped an hour before the crash. All of the original vocal recordings done in that hour have vanished. 20 or 30 takes. They must exist somewhere ? How can they be recovered?
God I put up with this programs miserable MIDI editing and massive crashing during MIDI editing... but this is too much.

God damn, I feel for you... I'm working on a track right now, and I think I'm done after that one. And I hate that, because now I'll have to re-learn an entire new program. 😠

Hi,

MusicMaker is a project editor; it does not contain audio files, only links to them, so any audio files that you recorded will still be on your computer. However, it does contain MIDI information, so any MIDI that you recorded will be lost, unless you exported the MIDI to a file from within the piano roll.

When you record audio, your recordings are saved to the location that you should have indicated and the filename that you can choose or accept the project name - 001, ...002, etc. by default.

Look in the audio parameters screen. What is the Save location?

Look in the Program settings. What is beside Recordings in the Folders tab?

Start looking in these locations. Failing that, assuming that you gave your project a name and saved it before recording, do a search of your hard drives for the project name.

Next time, pay attention to what is on the recording parameters screen for recordings naming and file location. This is an important part of file management.

I would just like to fully endorse and agree with everything @browj2 has written above. It really is the responsibility of the user to ensure that everything is correctly set-up in the program as installed on his (the user's) computer, including being fully aware of all default storage locations if he/she has made no changes to those defaults.

I appreciate the information and was able to recover the critical recorded audio files. However, I don't need a lesson in file management especially in regards to a program that is in fact by any non-Beta standards in the software industry UNSTABLE. MM does not perform auto-saves as it should, it has a very quirky MIDI editing environment. However, thanks for the info I will now be sure to also backup my MIDI tracks understanding that they can easily be lost forever in a future MM crash.
Music Maker is an incredible tool for music composition and remixing just beware of the landmines.
These comps are entirely based on MM 2019 and extensive use of MIDI
