Playing Drums on Keyboard

shoegazer wrote on 2/3/2014, 10:47 AM

Hi, just got the MMM Premium 2014 program and wondering if there is a way to play drums on the keyboard and assign bass, snare, hi hats etc, to different keys or sections on the keyobard in the software program. I don't have my own keyboard or drum kit and would like to play drums on the keyboard option if possibe for now. Anyone know'? I can get it to play one type of drum but that's useless if I can only use one drum at a time. Would love to use different keys for different drum sounds.

Sorry, no can do in Magix.  Yu ca only record one "sound" or track at a time....and drums is plural, not just drum.

If you select one of the instuments drum engines eg Drum Engine, Jazz Drums etc for a particular track - see image below -you will find that different keys on the keyboard will play the relevant part of the drum kit.

In the Instrument Editor you change the drum sound parameters.

To do this properly you need and external USB keyboard controller and it takes some practice to play multiple parts of the drum kit simultaneously.

If you cannot achieve the coordination needed, then as Gnarly says, you will have to record each part of the drum kit individually.

Johnbaker to the rescue.  I learned something also, but as he says, the learning curve might prove to be not worth the effort.  Let us know how yo make out and what process you decided to go with, please.  Thanks
