Playback marker ("play-head line") not showing up during playback.

TimmyCrackCorn wrote on 7/3/2019, 11:08 PM

Just installed Studio 13, and I notice that when I playback a file the line that denotes position in the waveform is not present. If I open up a menu item, it suddenly appears and is tracking along. Any idea why this is happening?

Also, is there a way to have it stop at the position it is at (I have tried spacebar and enter ... in older versions, one did stopped it where it was at, and the other returned it to where it started) instead of returning to where you started it?

Thanks,
Tim

Welcome to the Magix Sound Forge group Tim.

Sorry, I am not that familiar with AS (Audio Studio), but based on Sound Forge Pro, look for and check these settings:

- "Seek Cursor on Playback" Normally, this setting should be enabled. This setting is in the 'Options' menu. (Note; the 'F' key toggles this in/out so it can be inadvertently changed)

- "Spacebar and F12 Play/Pause instead of Play/Stop". The default setting is with the box unchecked in "Options> Preferences> General
>> Whilst in the 'Options' menu, confirm 'Play Normal Mode' is selected in the 'Transport' sub-menu.

Again, the above is based on the Sound Forge Pro, Sound Forge Audio Studio may differ.

Otherwise, you could try uninstalling and reinstalling, If the same behavior exists, uninstall with a third-party uninstaller such as the free 'Revo Uninstall' which can remove old registry entries that the default Windows uninstaller leaves behind.

Thanks, RRaud ... yeah, I didn't change the "seek cursor ..." option and it is enabled. Same for "Play Normal Mode". Seems like a graphics glitch. I don't have issues with any other software. Also this was the first installation of the software, so it isn't corrupted. Maybe the good ole' reboot is in order.

EDIT/UPDATE: Just relaunched the software and it seems to be fine now. No reboot even needed. :) Odd, but glad it was an easy fix.

PS: While I have your "ear" ... do you (or anyone) happen to know where Sound Forge saves your preferences? Thanks!

HI Tim, glad it was an simple fix

Yes , relaunching the software is about the first troubleshooting step when an application is misbehaving. The second being to reboot the computer

Unfortunately, there is really no way to transfer all Sound Forge preferences, layouts and customized settings. Some are in the (normally hidden) User/AppData, Local and Roaming folders (SOUND FORGE Pro and Magix)... others are in the registry... (don't go there unless your a PC expert).
