PC crashes when applying movement or animation (in 3D) to titles

joserobles1941 wrote on 8/22/2016, 10:09 PM

I am including two images of what happens when I triy to apply movement or animation to titles.   It has just happened all of a sudden.   It does no even allow me to see the preview.

I was thinking of uninstalling program and reinstalling it again,  but before that I would appreciate if someone could give me a reason why it is happening ( so if I am doing something wrong I can correct it) and also a fix.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi José

. . . . I was thinking of uninstalling program and reinstalling it again . . . .

Only do this as the very last resort.

Is MEP patched to version 14.0.0.183?

Try the following:

Switch to timeline mode, start a new project and apply just the Carousel title to it - does the error occur ?

Try resetting MEP to it default settings - File. Settings, Reset program settings to default.  Note this will lose any custom settings you have made.

Download and re-install the extras - Help, Free download - if you opted to keep files in the installation folder then this will not take long.

If the error is still there then without uninstalling the program, run the installer again and select the Repair option.

Hi John

Thank you very much Sir for your prompt reply.

I checked with Help and there are no upgrades.

I did as instructed in timeline mode and the error is still there

I had already done  what you suggested with File, Settings, Reset program  with no results

I downloaded and reinstalled the extras in Help,  Free downloads, again with no results

Finally I ran the installer and selected Repair option ,  nothing there either.

I have also requested help from Magix support and am a little skeptic because of not getting appropriate response in previous requests.   Allow me just to mention this as an example and maybe you can give me an answer.   In Help , Free downloads,  Newblue Titler Ex,  when trying to apply them there is this message,  Error,  Access Violation.  I first tred with  Magix support and their answer was that my system was at fault and when I tried directly with New Blue they said that Titler Ex is not compatible with Intel Graphics cards.  My surprise is that Magix Support does not know this and the reason I bought Intel´s is that it was recommended in this forum when I first bought the program.

Sorry fork taking advantage of this post with a different topic ;  I hope you don´t mind.

Best regards

they said that Titler Ex is not compatible with Intel Graphics cards.

It depends on the Version of Intel HD graphics that is in your processor. It works with my i7 which has Intel HD530 graphics chip but crashes MEP on my i5 in my Surface Pro which has the HD4400 chip.

Your problem with the Magix 3D maker may be fixed by deleting the Videodeluxe.ini file in the C:/Program Data/Magix/MovieEditPro2015 folder. This will recreate when you reopen the program.

Thank you for both answers.

I do have the i5 processor with HD4600 graphics card, so it won´t work.

I can´t find the ini file you mention even though I searched thoroughly.   Guess that my only option is to uninstall and reinstall the program.

Hi Jose

I think John EB has the same processor/HD Graphics as you and I believe the New Blue Titler works for him.

Sorry to put you wrong with the Videodeluxe.ini. I was looking in an older version of MEP and Windows. It is now in C:/Program Data/Magix/MovieEditPro2015premium/Videodeluxe21_premium. It is a hidden configuration file along with Program Data in Win10 so make sure you go to the View tab in the Explorer and tick the Hidden items and File name extensions first to make it visible.

Hi José

. . . .only option is to uninstall and reinstall the program  . .

Uninstalling and re-installing only may not fix the problem - follow these instructions to enable a clean install - if you are not on Windows 10 then ignore the parts 3 to 10.

NewBlue Titlr does not work  on a HD4600 with MEP 2015.

As Peter says mine does works, however that is because I  now have MEP 2016 installed and I suspect this updated the NewBlue Titler plugin to a later version which does work on a HD4600.

If it does not work you will get an error message- see my original post here

Hi John,

Thank you very much for all the help you are giving me.

I have OS 8.1 installed because some time ago I read your post about the difficulties that OS 10 had with MEP 15 and others.

I have spent  two full days trying to solve this problems and finally very late last night I thought of deleting all files that contained Magix MEP 15  including C, Data.   After I checked that there was no trace of any file left in my PC I install it as if it were brand new.  It worked and this morning when I opened my mail and saw your post I noticked it coincided with what I had done the previous night.  I had printed the document at the time I first read it because I thought it was very useful.

The one thing I would appreciate you telling me is what causes this problem so I do not repeat it again?

As to your "original post,"  quoted below,  there is one thing that confuses me: "... and of course they now work with MEP 2015 being a common component! "

"...Forgotton all about this question :

With MEP 2016 installed the NewBlue plugins work fine with Intel HD 4600 Graphics, and of course they now work with MEP 2015 being a common component!

John EB

I have MEP 2015 and HD 4600 Graphics and Newblue Titler X does not work.

Thanks,

José Robles

Hi Peter,

During the several attemps that I did yesterday at uninstalling and Installing,  I finally found the Video Deluxe 21 file with the ini extension.   There were two files with the ini extension,  one the installation and the other the Video Deluxe 21.  I might have deleted both because when I tried to install the program there was this message that the installation could not be performed because the file had not been found.  Would it have been installed successfully if only the latter file would have been deleted?

Thank you for your advise and help,

Best regards.

Hi

. . . . . I would appreciate you telling me is what causes this problem so I do not repeat it again . . . . .

AFAIK the version of NewBlue Titler that comes with MEP 2015 was not designed to work with Intel graphics chipsets, only Nvidia and AMD graphics cards - this information was on the NewBlue website.

The version of Titler that comes with MEP 2016 does work with Intel Graphics chipsets.  When I installed MEP 2016, the previous installation of Titler (from MEP 2015) was replaced wih that from MEP2016.

Certain programs and plugins that work with MEP are installed into a common folder for all versions of MEP.  This means they are installed once and available to however many versions of MEP are installed and support the program or plugin.

It is quite possible.

Hi John,

In order to be able to work with NewBlue Titler I would have to upgrade to MEP16 with the same processor with the HD 4460 Graphics Card?   This is very important for me for the cost of a new Graphics card here where I live in Lima, Peru,  is quite high.

I hve already asked Magix about the cost of upgrading.

Thanks again,

José Robles

That is correct.  There is a download trial version of MEP 2016 available, however, I think this does not include the NewBlue Titler activation for testing.
