Patch 29.0.4.025

Andrew-Walker wrote on 2/14/2021, 5:31 AM

Hi. When I start Music Maker I get a dialogue telling me to install patch 29.0.4.025. I go through the download process (done that about 5 times now) but when I close the programme the patch does not install and the dialogue is there next time I open the programme.

Is there a link to a manual donwload so I can install it outside the programme?

Any help appreciated.

@Andrew-Walker

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Which exact version and variant of MM do you currently have? Version 29.x.x.xxx is actually MM 2021, the first 64 bit release of the app, and its latest version is 29.0.5.32. Hence you are being asked to update to an older release.

If your current version is 28 you need to be aware that the update to any build of version 29 will result in you having only the Free version of MM, with its limitations. Because version 29 is, essentially a brand new program, to gain full access it must be purchased as an Upgrade.

OTOH, if you already have either the Premium or Plus variant of version 29 I think we need to know a lot more about your computer. This post will show you what we really need to know.

Thanks for the quikc reply. I thought I had MM Premium - when I use the 'help about' feature in the programme though it just says Music Maker and version number is 28.0.3.53.

Unless I am misunderstanding your post I would need to pay to upgrade to MM 2021. So i guess I just need to ignore the upgrade nag dialogue. Can that be turned off?

@Andrew-Walker

Yes, you are currently running MM 2020 (Premium, presumably) and if you do attempt to update to anything called version 29, unless you also pay the Upgrade price, you will have MM2021 in its Free (i.e. limited) variant.

If you do a search on the forum for how to remove pop-ups/nag screens/update notifications you will find quite detailed information about how to disable that screen.

As a matter of interest, are you running a 64 bit version of Windows? If not, that would easily explain why the download fails to install. If you do have a 64 bit version, I honestly have no idea at all why it would not install; but you don't really want it anyway!

Hi. Thanks again for the info. It's presented as a patch (implies fixes for things) as opposed to a paid for upgrade. Bit naughty but not surprising I think.

I'll follow up on your suggestion for dealing with the nags.

Thanks again.

@Andrew-Walker, @emmrecs

Hi

This is one nag that is not possible to remove as it is coming from the 'in program' updater.

Click New project or Open project and the program continues with no issues.
