Overdubbing

Hello Everyone,

I just installed Sound Forge 15 along with Music Maker. I want to record vocals over background music. I imported a karaoke song (just music) but when I hit the record button there is no way I can record my voice while listening to music. I don't hear my voice through earphones or background music and besides nothing is recorded. I could do it very easily with Audacity but I removed Audacity because of its policy of collecting data. I am not sure if I can record vocals over or overdub in Sound Forge or Music Maker. Can you please let me know if this is possible or not and if possible how to do it.

Thank you all for your help or comments.

Hi @Ignacio-Natera, Sound Forge is a multi-channel editing application and not designed for overdubbing.
Popular Multi-track DAWs suited for this task include ProTools, Reaper, Samplitude and the free Audacity. Vegas Pro video also has a very capable multi-track DAW built in, which Sound Forge can be integrated into.

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users forum

Hi,

Just use Music Maker. Import the audio file on one track and record on another track. Depending on your setup, you can monitor what is playing on other track while recording.

Tengo el programa pero no puedo bajarme la actualización ya que no deja de instalarlo en otro disco que no sea C: y no tengo espacio.

¿ Se puede hacer en otro directorio como D: el ejecutable no deja

You should always install your programmes on C:\
Many programmes react badly if this is not the case.
You should save your data on another hard disk - also for easier data backup.

Can you possibly rearrange something or delete programmes/data that are no longer needed?

Not necessarily true, I'm afraid!

Almost every program on my computer, including all my Magix ones, are installed to a dedicated, separate, "Programs" drive, D:\. Certain associated support files automatically install to C:\, but the core programs are all on D:\ and run without any problem! I keep C:\ as my "Windows" disc; it does have a few programs whose manufacturer does NOT offer the option for the user to choose the install location.

However, I do fully agree that data should be stored on a separate disc as far as humanly possible.
