Online Album thumbnails - any way to change the image?

browj2 wrote on 10/10/2013, 12:56 PM

Hi,

On my Magix online album, the albums show up with an icon that represents the type, that is, a music note for music files, a piece of film for videos, etc. See the screen shot below. When I click on the video, for example, it starts to run and there is a thumbnail shown as would be seen in a Windows Explorer thumbnail showing a frame from the video. For a music album, it would be nice to replace the icon with an image of the artist.

Does anyone know if it is possible to change these icons to show a different image? And if so, how?

Additional information:

The thumbnails are sometimes the content file themselves, other times the subfolder. For example the first music thumbnail is a subfolder which contains several MP3 files. The Video thumbnail is the video file itself.

Thanks,

John

Hi

Not as far as I can see.

I would suggest you put in a request to support at Magix - I will do the same.  This is, for me, an important feature that is missing.

Hi John,

I will put in a request about the thumbnails.

I find the online album to be very bland. The adverts from Magix make it sound like one can do all kinds of beautiful things can be done to make the album fancy. Reality is different.

Web Maker is not offered and, so far as I can tell, the album site is fixed, with limited potential for change.

Thanks,

John

Hi,

Further to my last post, I went back again to my online album on Saturday and to my surprise, I now have images on my thumbnails. I don't know if this was a result of your request, but it seems strange.

For the music album - Concept-Son En Direct, there is now an image. I had copied 3 images into the folder along with 10 songs, and no image appeared on the thumbnail for the first few days. I notice that if you hover your cursor over the thumbnail, the images scroll at about a 2 sec interval. Furthermore, a line of icons appears below the image showing the number of images, videos and songs. See below.

Yesterday I added a short video and placed it into the Promenade d'automne album - see the red oval. Today, I added 2 photos, one at the original size, the other reduced to about 128KB. I started with the large image, and after a while the first image registered as 1 in the line of icons, but no image on the thumbnail. I added the second smaller image and it showed up in the album after about a half hour, and after about another half hour the images icon showed 2, as in the screen shot below, but still no image on the thumbnail. I closed and reopened my browser and the album several times to make sure that it was refreshed. I will monitor my album to see if the images show up tomorrow. I will try an even smaller file size to see if that has any bearing on the thumbnail.

As a result, it seems that the images do show up on the thumbnails and the additional information on the thumbnail by hovering with the mouse and the scrolling through the images makes the appearance of the album much better. I wonder why the change to the image count takes so long to appear in the thumbnail. Same with the image on the thumbnail. Could it be that someone is filtering the information before it gets posted to the album?

I will hold off on my request to Magix to see what happens over the next day or so.

John

Hi John,

It seems to work now. The image on the thumbnail of the video I uploaded a week ago showed up on Sunday, as did a video I uploaded Saturday. The image of a video I uploaded yesterday showed up once the file was uploaded and active.

All is well.

Thanks,

John
