Hi

I just exported a movie I finished and one of the clips keeps showing up black in the final version. I have tried to export it multiple times and each time this clip is all black. I am exporting into mp6 1920x1080 59.97 . DOes anyone know how to stop this?

Hi

You have provided insuficient information. - please read this post  - in particular:

Which version of Movie Edit Pro and is it patched up to date?

Computer specification and graphics card used if not integrated?

Windows version?

Is the 'black' clip any different from the others on the timeline?

What is the source of the 'black' clip?

I am using movie edit pro 2016 and it is up to date. i am using widows 10 i5 with 6gb. When looking at the timeline it all looks the same and plays normally while editing.  I have done some color correction, reverse, and sped it up a bit but nothing different that the other clips in the video. When i go to export it the video preview shows that clip black and the same in the finished file. I am not sure what you mean by source but it is pulling the clip from the same place as some of the other clips. The original file is mp4 and i want it to export as an mp4. sorry if any info is incomplete i am new to this site and to video editing.

Hi

. . . . I am not sure what you mean by source . . . .

Is the video clip from the same camera / recording as the rest of the clips?

. . . . i took the same clip and added it to a new project and exported it just fine . . . .

Did you apply all the same effects etc to the clip as in the other project?

Also try the following:

  1. Open the project with the black clip

  2. Make a note of the effects you applied to it

  3. Delete the clip from the timeline.

  4. Save the project and close MEP

  5. Using Windows Explorer set so you can see the file extensions - open the folder where the video clip is located - and delete any files with the .H0 and .HDP file extension and the same name as the video clip causing the problem - these files will be recreated later - see example image below

  6. If you are using proxy files there will also be other files with the video clip name in it and the word proxy - delete these as well - see example image below.

  7. Start MEP and reload the project

  8. Add the video clip back into the project and save it.

  9. Export the project  to check the clip is displayed OK - to make it quicker for testing set a range and export the range only - see below

  10. Add one of the effects back in save the project and test export.

  11. Repeat step 10 with each of the effects - if there is an issue with one of them this will help identify it.

Files to be deleted:

To set and export a range - see image below

So I did everything suggested and each time the clip showed up with no isssues. However on the final export of the entire move it did the same thing.

As far as the souurce goes it was taken with the same camera.

Hi

. . . . So I did everything suggested and each time the clip showed up with no isssues. However on the final export of the entire move it did the same thing. . . . .

Try the following:

  1. Open the complete project

  2. Select File, Manage movies, Export and export the project as a MVD file

  3. Start a new project, select File, Manage movies, Import - select the saved MVD and import it.

  4. Save the new project with a different name and try the export again.

If this fails then it would suggest the problem is trigerred by an event prior to the clip that is exporting black, eg the previous object on the timeline was an image or movie in a different format.

If this is what is happening then it is going to be a case of removing objects one by one to find the culprit.

I have had a similar issue with audio not playing when I was mixing mp3 and wav files on the same timeline in an older version of MEP.

Hi

Thank you for letting us know it worked.

I suspect the project file was corrupted - the method I gave you is a neat way of fixing the problem.

Cheers
