Old version of Software = Old Sony Serial Number How to get a Magix #

Hi!

I'm hoping that someone can help me out.

I have Sound Forge 10 which means I have a serial number that Magix does not recognize since it was created when it was under Sony. Is there a way to get a new serial number? I ask this because I do not want to lose this should my computer crash or when upgrading my OS. I like the the remote recording feature. It allows me to remain paperless in my booth. That's why I've kept it around. I upgraded to 12 but was disappointed that it did not have the remote recording feature. I need the serial number so that I can download and reinstall the software should I lose it when I upgrade my OS as that's a possibility. I'm currently on Windows 8. Yeah, I know.

Thanks for any help 😉

Kindly,

DM-B

@DM-B As far as I know, all registrations have been transferred from Sony to Magix. You should be able to login into your user account at https://www.magix.com/int/support/my-service-center/ with your old Sony login credentials and be able to find your Sound Forge 10 license.

The 'Remote Record' feature was brought back starting with SF-15 .The new RR's UI is slightly different but it works OK.

FWIW, Some folks have experienced an 'Elevated Privilege' issue with a SF-10 that prevents it from launching a. This is primarily with SF-10 Pro after 'some' Win 10 updates. The were a few reports of this behavior in SF-10 AS and early builds of SFP-11 as well. The Magix versions of SF are not affected.

Thank you both. I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with this forum and how it works. I'm not sure how to respond to each of you individually.

SP: Thank you! That was my first step but unfortunately I could not find it there as one of my products.
rraud: Thank you! I did not know that with regard to RR being brought back with 15. I'm not sure what "Elevated Privilege" means.... although it sounds like it would be awesome, I'm guessing you'd lose some capabilities. I do have 12 pro which came with some nice Izotope plug-ins and I purchased a few more. I do VO so this has been a nice little software for me. I'll have to look into 15... Thanks again!!

If you you wish to upgrade to SF-16, you are entitled to discounted price using either your SF-10 or SF-12 serial, Just choose the 'upgrade' option if you do choose to purchase the current version. You can also use your previously purchased plug-ins with SF-16. You do not have to uninstall the older version(s) of SF either, they will all coexist without issue.
