Nothing shows in TimeLine Mode but does show in StoryBoard Mode

I think I recall this happening ages ago or not? But I just reloaded my movie. It is THERE but there are no TRACKS displaying my movie (pictures), titles and music. Where did it go. It is completely devoid of any visible content. Again, it is there in StoryBoard mode. I exited and reloaded with the same result.

@FF22

FF, you've posted this in the Movie Edit Now section but I think you're using Movie Edit Pro/Movie Studio.

First, "optimise the timeline view" by hitting CTRL+F. That will fit your whole movie within the visible timeline, L/R-wise.

If that doesn't work, your objects may be on tracks which are not displayed. Use the vertical scroll bar on the right of the timeline to go up and down to display the hidden tracks. You can also change the height of each track with the Plus and Minus buttons.

And if that doesn't work, post a screenshot of your compete Magix window so we can have a gander.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Before reading this I tried loading rerunning Magix, yes, Movie Edit Pro Plus ( can't keep track of the various versions of Pro, Pluses, etc), again. To no avail. I did look up and down the tracks and left to right but there was nothing. I did notice some small symbol or micro thingies. Just at the top of the TimeLine window almost at the extreme left. They appeared/disappeared as I moved the marker across left to right. I decided to load a backup and that restored the properties and visibility. I will keep your suggestion in mind if it happens again. Thanks.

Hi,

You somehow managed to get the timeline zoomed way, way out. @AAProds told you what to do - Ctrl+F. Why did you not do this? F and Enter also work.

There are other options to do the same thing:

which will all give you this:

There are also horizontal and vertical scroll bars that you can use that also can be used to zoom in and out of the timeline.

Also, Ctrl+mouse wheel will zoom in and out of the timeline.

I suggest that you watch some of the tutorials listed here, especially Getting Started part 3 and Basic Editing 1 and 2 to save yourself a lot of grief.

Do not go reinstalling the program because you don't know how something works. You can just create more problems for yourself.

@browj2

I actually think for a guy closer to 100 than 50, I do okay with overseas travel and Magix. 😁

I did not reinstall the program. I closed and reopened it a few times and reloaded the project. Did nothing to fix the missing TimeLine. I then loaded a backup file and that solved the issue. But I did all of this before @AAProds initially replied.

I did scroll up/down and left/right looking for the Timeline views but could not find it. I knew the project was there since StoryBoard showed my images and the movie played.

I can assure you that next time I will use the methods both of you suggested to find my "missing" mode.

I really do appreciate the help and speedy replies this forum offers. It has saved me a number of times from my own hi-jinx.

I think one of my main issues with Magix is forgetting I'm in MultiTrack mouse mode rather than Single Item mode. A number of times I have accidentally moved a series of photos and titles only to notice after. But usually that has followed a few stutters (micro moves) so that UNDO has to be used multiple times to rectify the shifted damage.

Also only using the program annually does not help the forgotten steps and solutions.

Again, thanks to you both for the help with this project. The Grecian Urn is nearing completion. And Grecian Formula will help with the extra gray hairs.
