notes played on keyboard cut off when sustain pedal is released. This has happened since I downloaded "update"

Former user wrote on 9/17/2013, 7:31 PM

I use an Alesis QS 8 and  a Korg X3 and MMM Premium 2013. I am running this with Windows 8.   I have been active in the forum and have been enjoying making music for close to a year.  HOWEVER, with the last online update, came problems. I also purchased  Samplitude Music Studio 2013 at around the same time (the $49.99 special)  Since then, the problems are as follows:

1)   when I release the sustain pedal, the notes cut off. Not all of the notes, just some.

2)   I can no longer access the forum by clicking on HELP

3 )  I can no longer put songs on SoundCloud directly from this site from the Export to.....dropdown menu

4)   When I attempt to use my keyboard sounds which I run through an Audiobox USB, I can record ONE track and then there is a pop up that says: Magix Music Maker has stopped working and then I lose whatever I have done.

Samplitude is doing the same thing as MMM Premium 2013 as far as the notes cutting off.
So right now I am unable to use the software at all.

I have tried to uninstall the update but have been unsuccessful.  I hope I have given all of the necessary info so that I will get some help this time.

Thanks,

Trish

Trish - are you having this problem using Music Maker's own instruments (Vita acoustic piano etc) or a non-Magix VST synth?  There is definitely a problem with Magix Vita & the sustain pedal.  The problem that I hear when using a MIDI keyboard (I have 2 different kinds) to play Vita Acoustic Piano in Music Maker Premium 2013 can be demonstrated as follows:

1.  Play and hold a chord

2.  Press and hold the sustain pedal

3. Play and hold the same chord again

4. Release the sustain pedal

I would expect the chord to sustain after releasing the pedal (because I am holding the keys down) but it doesn't.  Releasing the sustain pedal in this example silences the chord.  When playing real music, the problem only affects notes common to two chords played in succession (which means only some of the notes are affected!)  I have a separate piano VSTi and that isn't affected by this problem.  I have no idea if this problem is related to the recent update.  I do see the same problem in both Music Maker 2013 and Samplitude Music Studio 2013.  This isn't an answer I'm afraid, but it might help you figure out if your problem is the keyboard or the software...

YES!  That is IT!  Thanks you!!!  I didn't put it together that it affected only the notes that were common between 2 chords and unfortunately I spent $50 on Samplitude Studio 2013 and got the same problem.

I suppose if this problem is not going away that I need to find a GOOD sounding piano and acoustic guitar that is not associated with MMM.  Can you recommend a place to start looking for a (free preferably) VSTi because it works fine with the VSTi's that I have. I just haven't found a piano I like.

Thanks again for you answer to my question!

Hi Trish.  Glad to help at least confirm the problem.  I am only just starting with Magix & music software so I can't help much with VSTis.  The only alternative VST piano that I have came with my little Korg MIDI keyboard... which has no sustain pedal socket at all!  Hence buying a second keyboard... :)  Did you get the Independence Basic VST with your Samplitude package?  My Samplitude came with it, and the piano in that does NOT suffer from the sustain problem & sounds quite nice once the filter is adjusted a bit, plus it has guitars... but it's quite complicated & I haven't figured out any way to make Independence work in MMM.    I guess nothing is perfect! :)

I just upgraded from Music maker premium 2013 to 2014 and I'm having the same issue now! I have done everything I know to solve it but nothing has worked....I just completed my album and I have this problem.....Everything pointed out to the program being the problem.....

MMM 2013 was working fine for me except when I would try to record audio such as voice....but now after finishing an album, it's completly useless to me in this way...cant record, cant play back any songs without the notes being cut off....Does no one have an answer for this???

Hello guys! I've registered here, 'cause maybe I have a solution for you: I had the same problem with the VST plug-in "Century Keys". Try out if the problem occurs on ALL Vita VST's. The problem apparently lies in the .dll file from the plugin "Century Keys", because other Vita VST `s seem to work. Here is my solution for the "Century Keys" problem:

Go to the following path:
X:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\MAGIX Services\MxSynth\

Copy the vita.dll from the VITA folder and places it in the CENTURY KEYS folder.
Delete the original Century Keys.dll (not the Century Keys (64). Dll!)
and rename the Vita.dll to Century Keys.dll.

Start the Magix Music Maker/Samplitude.

I hope, I could help you. Have Fun! :-)

I fixed it by not using the Century keys. I downloaded a uch better Piano VST, switched over all my songs to it and it works great now! back in business!  LOL a year later!
