Probably if you're only using the free version for which no serial number is needed. You only need a serial if you have bought an Edition (Premium or Plus) to activate extra content.

@Chris-Anderson

Hi

In addition to @Graham-Hawker's comment - once you have registered the software, the serial number 'disappears' from within the product as the edition is connected to your email address used to register the edition after the initial installation - this is all you should see under Help within the program..

The serial number should be available in your Magix account over at magix.com, however once the edition is registered it is no longer needed.

On re-install you only have to login to your account to complete activation and download install the extra content.

Thanks for your input. I have over 12 different Magix pieces of software all registered with Magix in my account. Music Maker is the only one that does not have a serial number listed there. That was the reason for the question.

I just received the ad for Music Maker 2022 Premium which has no version number attached to the ad. Since I just upgraded and registered version 28 and 30 I was trying to check if 2022 is any different from what I have. That was when I noticed that there is no serial number for that particular product either in the software itself of when it is listed in my registered products.

I was not aware that I could have been using a 'Free' version. The succeeding versions were updates. If I purchase the 2022 Premium will it have a serial number?

Really you are always using the free version because there is only one version. The additional features are added by buying an edition for which you get a serial number. When you update to the latest version, once installed, you just downland all the features you had with previous versions.

To illustrate. I bought Music Maker 2019 Edition. After installing the program (the free version) I activated with my serial number and downloaded all the stuff included in that Edition. Later on I installed the free version of Music Maker 2021 and downloaded all the features I had with the 2019 Premium Edition. No serial number is involved.

@Chris-Anderson

There is no other version. Music Maker 2022. like 2021 and 2020, is FREE! You pay for Editions, not the program; that is why you don't have a serial number for the program - there is no serial number. Serial numbers only come with Editions. Editions are activated in the welcome screen of Music Maker, so long as you have logged in. Then, and only then, can you go to the downloads tab and download and install everything. Once activated, the Edition will show up in your account with the serial number.

Lastly, you cannot activate 2022 Premium Edition in Music Maker 2021, only in Music Maker 2022. The program, Music Maker 2022, has to be installed first.
