No Vinyl Recording

Hi All,
I’ve recently purchased and loaded Rescue Your Vinyl & Tapes 4, connected the record deck through the pre-amp to my PC using the mini jack microphone input, and then happily set about copying (importing) my record collection. At first it appeared to be working, although there was virtually no movement on the waveform display and no sound, so when the record had finished I tried to the (cleaning) key, and all I got was a extremely ‘tinny’ barely audible version of the record, which fell far short of my expectations. Unfortunately I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers / programmes, so can anyone help me please?

I do not have "Rescue Your Vinyl & Tapes" but essentially that program is Audio Cleaning Lab. Wit that said... here is how I connect to the PC for recording.

I have my turntable, cassette deck, reel-to-reel all connected as normal to my stereo receiver. My receiver also has a stereo audio output section. This on my system is a RCA (red/white) connection. I take a cable from that connection to the LINE-IN (Blue port) of the PC sound card.

Microphone port (red or pink) is not the correct connection, it is a MONO connection and also has a gain boost, which would causes issues and anomalies in the recording.

Once the connections has been made, you need to select in the Windows Recording Devices to record from Line-In. otherwise, the system is recording little or nothing and if there is a recording, it could measure nearly a flat line.

After the connection and setting up the Line In port is made, you should test the recording with something simple. In the test, you should have music, and as it is recording, adjust the volume control with the stereo receiver to volumes you would normally listen to... these adjustments in volume should also be recorded in the test.
