No video from VCR or DVD player?

When recording from my dvd player or VCR, I record sound but no video. The display within the record window remains black.
I am using a Terratec Grabster 150 and Windows Vista.
If I try and record video using Terratec home cinema, i can record the video, so the problem must be with the Magix software. Will somebody help please....especially the writers of this software. The software was packaged with the Terratec Grabster 150 and is called Magix Movies on CD and DVD version 6.0.3.7

I'm not quite sure, since the Terratec bundle wasn't released in the States, but I heard there was a driver update/ Terratec issued patch:
