No sound when importing MOV in Movie Edit Pro 17?

So I'm experimenting with recording video on my iPhone5.  I'm using an app called Filmic Pro (it allows a lot more control than the crappy camera app that comes with the phone) and the quality seems quite decent.

I can copy the MOV files to my pc (Windows 7 64 bit) and view them (with the sound intact) in Quicktime, no problem.   But when I bring them into Movie Edit Pro 17, I've got NO soundtrack.

nickstonemusic,

Do you get sound from other video sources? First thing I'd check (literally) is the 'Extract sound from videos' box under 'File' >> 'Settings' >> 'Movie...' >> 'Audio video' tab.

Carl

Yes, I'm getting sound from everything else that I import to Magix INCLUDING other MOV files from other sources.  And like I said, these MOV files are playing fine in Quicktime on the same machine.

I was able to work around the problem for now by using AVS to convert the video to MPG first and then import to Magix and it worked fine.

But of course this is an extra step, and what I'm really trying to do is to streamline my workflow (kind of why I even thought of using the iPhone for this to begin with).

So it seems that the audio IS there, but Move Edit Pro just doesn't recognize it.  I'll check the settings you suggest though.  Thanks.

Hmmm, I don't see any "Audio/Video" tab under Settings -> Movie.   What am I missing here?

Sorry, megasorry -- don't try to answer questions in the middle of the night!

'File' >> 'Settings' >> 'Program...' >> 'Audio video' tab.

A search for 'settings' in the pdf manual would show two choices movie and program. Exact wording may very with program version.

Yeah, I figured that out.  But after checking, I see that the 'Extract sound from videos' box was in fact alredy checked, so that's not the problem.  Like I said, other video files are coming in fine WITH sound, and even other MOV files coming in fine WITH sound.

Only the iPhone5 MOV files don't have sound when imported to Magix (even though they have sound when played in Quicktime on the same machine).

I'm thinking this has to be some sort of codec problem, but just don't know what.
