No sound from imported .mov files

When I import .mov files from a Panasonic Camera (now 10+ years old) into MEP 2021 Plus (version 20.0.1.80), I have no sound. Looking at the imported object properties, there is no sound component. I recall seeing posts about this (audio codec issue), but can't seem to find them right now.

In the past (as I recall), my workaround has been to convert the video to MP4 or record the audio as an MP3 track using other software and then importing into MEP. I doubt this is optimal and am looking for a better solution. I recall seeing a recommendation to convert the file to a format supported by MEP but can't find the recommended "how" and into "what" format. Please help point me to the information

Thank you all for testing, it is most appreciated. Unfortunately it is going to cost me $68 to upgrade my copy of MEP, and I don't think i see anything in the release notes that might help.. I have already purchased MEP six times (literally) and adverse to buying it yet again so that it 'might' import files from 2015 (which should have worked in MEP2016ProPlus LOL).

Not sure what to do next...

Hi Andy.

It may not be a MEP problem but a GPU driver issue. Have you visited the appropriate websites and checked your driver version with the latest offerings? Don't rely on Windows to tell you the latest drivers.

I have tested converting with both Handbrake and AviDemux and like @AAProds I cannot replicate the issue - playing in MEP 2021 version .80

The updates for MEP 2021 should not cost anything, are you using the Help, Update online option in the program?

If so can you post a screenshot of the dialog if it says you have to pay.

It is not a display issue, because MEP really thinks the video clip is longer than it is (it will export the extra frames). But to be sure, i just updated all my GPU drives and software and there is no change

I just did the MOV --> MP4 conversion using Shutter Encoder and same result. Maybe a codec issue?

Hi, I don't think there is anything wrong with that Handbrake version you posted, it seems fine on my machine, I think looking at other converters like Shutter is looking for the fault in the wrong place, when you try the file again, make sure you either delete all the temp files MEP has created already or rename that file so those temp files get recreated anew ,

First clip in this vid is your converted one, the second is the orig .mov

My info within MEP is showing the clip as being 7 seconds 15 frames. So I'm assuming yours is showing an additional 4 frames?

John is not getting the same result using MEP 2021 with the same build as your own so not a program bug or codec problem.

What is your CPU model number? Which Intel graphics chip does it have?

@CubeAce Not easy to see but in his vid you can just see at the top it shows 7.15 & the cursor on last frame shows it at 7.14 which is correct,

SOLVED! I did have HW acceleration turned off for both options (playback, export) however when I changed DisplayOptions > Video Mode to Compatibility Mode (VideoForWindows) the problem went away.

Thank you to everyone for your helpful suggestions and efforts. It really helped direct me to the right location.
