@Beatsdude

Hi

This topic has been covered before - see here.

Please read this topic before posting and come back with more information as detailed in that topic. Also include the make/model of the MIDI keyboard you are using.

If you are using the free version of Music Maker, do note that it does have some limitation and limited functions which are available in the Plus and premium versions.

Beatsdude,

If you are using a cheap AKAI midi keyboard, you may be able to get access to an earlier version of AKAI VIP software . The VIP can be loaded as a 32bit VST and then you have the functionality assuming your version of Music Maker supports 32bit VSTs ie Plus and Premium versions.

Hello johnebaker

Thank you for your fast response I appreciated what you have clearly highlighted in your summary & as mentioned by ralftaro currently this is still in early development,  perhaps in the future we will see an option for assigning different key, pots, pads, buttons etc.. I have been trying to work a way around this & its a long shot, but for example I am using an Alesis vi49 an intermediate keyboard with more than enough functions for getting creative, for example using one of the 12 volume pots to be assigned to the mixer rack would be the prime example.

So within Alesis software there is an editor allowing you to change numbers assigned to the various keys, if Magix would be able to provide what the specific numbers is for example play, stop, rec, FF, FW etc. we might have a chance of mapping keys, 'theoretically speaking' haa so would be great if they would look in to this, & not just for alesis

kind regards

To build off of your request. I'm having the same issues but, wondering if providing the equipment I use will be able to change that.

Which I have a

AKAI MPD218

AKAI Mini play.

Is actually a good idea, I am sure if they had different manufacturers Akai Alesis, etc. they could build a drop down menu on an update or even in the shop under more features  allowing users to select their model/manufacturer that would have preloaded key maps. I would be happy to send my keyboard to them, I am currently working on custom map for my keyboard allowing me to use the play rec function, but I will forward any information if get hold of an Akai Mini or MPD.
cheers

@DiMM_Tha_KiDD

Hi

AKAI Mini play - this is a standard midi keyboard and should be picked up by Music Maker and work correctly with a Music Maker instrument.

AKAI MPD218 - @ralftaro can you expand on

. . . . 'The 16 pads are in the correct range to correspond with the 16 virtual pads of Music Maker's "Live Pads" feature' . . . .

Are these specific MIDI channels or 'key codes' if so which ones?

Hi John,

The mapping is such that the pads of the Live Pads function, as well as the controls for the pitches, correspond with a specific range of keys on the keyboard. The keys for the 16 pads start at C1 and go up to B2, in terms of Music Maker's internal mapping*. This is followed by the keys that control the currently used pitch of the triggered sample. There is no way within Music Maker to control this mapping and customise it. So, if you were to use any other controller that does feature pads, and they don't happen to correspond with hardwired range in Music Maker, one would have to explore whether the notes corresponding with those physical pads can be changed on the end of the device or its configuration software.

*) Really, it is C0 on the physical keyboard. Please keep in mind that there's a one-octave offset between the actual C1 on the keyboard and the key that is received in Music Maker and ACID. Why this is, and whether there's any specific rhyme or reason to it, I don't actually know, but we've already brought it up to development. On many keyboards, you will have an option to shift octaves. You can use this adjust matters and make C1 on the keyboard properly align with C1 in the software, if you find this situation too irritating.

Hope this info helps!

@ralftaro

Hi Ralf

Many thanks for the information, that is very useful. Now I know what to look for when I get a new MIDI keyboard that has pads - it is on the list for this year. 🎁
