No audio from USB input

I've been trying to record audio with a Guitar Link USB cable into Music Maker. Windows recognizes the USB device and within Windows audio settings it responds and the levels change when strumming the guitar. I also downloaded a cheap third party audio recording program and got that to record audio successfully. When using Music Maker it does not recognize the input audio at all. I've tried every combination of audio driver within the program and even the ASIO4All plug in without any luck. If it doesn't work I'll have to switch to another program.

Hi

. . . . When using Music Maker it does not recognize the input audio at all. I've tried every combination of audio driver within the program and even the ASIO4All plug in without any luck. . . . .

Can you confirm that the options as shown in the image below are all set :

  1. Track is set for audio recording
  2. & 3. The recording input using the record setting is the USB device in the drop down list

Yes the track is armed for audio recording and then the record button is pressed, but no audio registers as the track is being recorded. There is also no audio input in the monitoring section of the settings. I've tried ASIO4All as well as the USB input which is what should work in theory. What is strange is that I got the sound to register and record in a cheap straight up audio recorder but not in MM.

I've used every combination of inputs that I could within MM.

@Kevin-Maynard

Did Windows install the driver for the Guitar Link USB?

If so it is likely that the 64 bit drivers were installed. You need the 32 bit version for Music Maker which is a 32 bit program.

Which model of Guitar Link USB do you have?

Yeah it auto-installed. I'm not sure which model Guitar Link I have but it's pretty old. it came with a small mini CD to install the drivers but I let it auto-install since my laptop does not have a disc drive. Ill have to check when I'm home. The guitar input registers as USB mic input in Windows and is seen by other programs.
