no audio from iphone speaker but from headphones

I recorded a HD video via a Canon camera and the audio was recorded by using a lapel mic plugged into the mic port on the camera.  When editing it in Movie Edit Pro 2014, I had to use Stereo FX and increase the width to 200% as it was coming through as mono and the sound was garbled when playing it on a iphone via youtube (it would play fine on a computer or burned to a disk).  Now, it plays fine on an iphone, but only through headphones.  There is no sound from the speaker at all.  I'm sure it's something stupid I'm not doing but I would appreciate anyone's wisdom as fixing this issue.  Thanks.

Hi

. . . . When editing it in Movie Edit Pro 2014, I had to use Stereo FX and increase the width to 200% as it was coming through as mono . . . .

This is not the correct method for duplicating mono sound to both channels.

Try this - after resetting Stereo width.

  1. Right click the mono audio and select Audio Cleaning, Stereo FX tab

  2. From the Preset dropdown select either Both channels = left or Both channels = right and OK

The sound will still be mono but it will come out of both channels correctly.

. . . . it plays fine on an iphone, but only through headphones.  There is no sound from the speaker at all . . . .

That may be this iPhone issue.

Thanks so much, this worked.  In actuality, I thought about your response and how it really should be working without me jumping through hoops.  I did some more looking into it and it turned out a cable that I purchased (because it was shorter) was not the right type.  I went back to the longer cable that was shipped with the lav mic and hooked it to the camera per the manufacturer's instructions and it works perfectly.  Stupid mistake, thanks for helping.  =)
