New to Magix! How do multiple programs work together with Magix? Soundpools and instruments shared?

GRB wrote on 10/27/2015, 12:24 AM

I just took a look at Magix products for first time, and bought Music Maker Movie Score Edition! Big fan of movies and soundtracks!!!! I havent started using it other than getting familiar with it, but already looking at expanding upon it. I was wondering how Magix handles multiple version downloads on same computer.... meaning, do features, instruments, and soundpools transfer (or show up) in various editions, or do they stay "parked" in the original edition? IE, since I got the MMM Movie Score (not sure what year that is considered when bought direct from Magix), If i added more additions via purchase and activation would those show up in my Movie Score edition also (extra tools, instruments, sounds, etc)? I have already started making a Magix wishlist for addons, like MM 2014 comes with the Soundpool 18 collection, found a good deal on Samplitube Music Studio 2014 for more editing capabilities, etc....... also considering the newest MMM on sale, and maybe eventually the newer Samplitube either 2015 or 2016 version, along with collecting/expanding some soundpools via sales or included with deals online....... I'd love to get a few of the newer/different instruments.....  Anyone out there load multiple versions like these and can tell me how Magix handles it? I am using a Win 10 laptop btw, 8 gb ram so shouldn't be a problem long as programs are rated for Win 8 originally.........  thanks in advance guys!

Cheers and may the Music Season be 24/7/365 !

Hi

You do not need to install multiple editions of the same program - I would suggest you get Music Maker 2016 Premium then buy any extra soundpools etc you require.

The other editions of Music Maker eg Movie Score are 'cut down' versions of the full program with limited soundpools included.

Thanks John! Not ready to spend the full newest version moneys to expand before actually using what I just got in the Movie Score edition to familiarize and first impressions.... I just found some discounted stuff online and was wondering about expanding upon what I have without spending a whole bunch to do so ;)

I did unfortunately have some technical problems last night in my first test score of only 5 tracks, but I'll repost that in another forum post to keep things defined. I may just get those other mentioned products for the soundpools and instruments alone, but I hear what you are saying. I also have sent tickets to Magix directly about this and my technical issue and have already heard back on the integrating other products question like here. Pretty good response time for first support ticket imo.... :)

Made the mistake of doing the Samplitude Music Studio 2015 trial! Now I want that one! :-)

Also didn't notice any of the cpu/memory spikes in it that MMM did for me in mine. I'll have to double check my audio settings in MMM to make sure...... But I like the expanded features and functions in MSMS! Great tutorials for that specific edition too! I watched them all last night before diving into the new trial software......

Just got my additon to my Magix adventure in the mail yesterday.... Now I own MMM Movie Score, MMM 2016 Live, and MMS 2016 ! :)  The new ones will be installed soon as my computer finishes defraging after deleting a bunch of gigs of files!!! WooHoo!

I'm sure I may decide eventually to go with a MSamplitudeMS as an upgrade when offered too! And If I really start getting serious about studio work in future, may end up going to full version of Samplitude Pro X or something when better needed....!!!! Thanks for input and reply Johnebaker!

Update: So far I have to say that all my programs seem to work fine together all installed on same laptop. I currently have MMM Movie Score edition, MMM 2016 Live, MMStudio 2016, MSamplitudeMS 2015 Trial, and just added MPhotostory Easy! All additional content downloaded and installed. Some content shows up in various programs Soundpools, some instruments avail from others too! I don't think all show avail in every one, but they do work well together so far as I can tell. Pretty happy far as the initial impressions go! I don't see any reason why not to collect any older versions and soundpools on sale to make content avail in newer ones.... I haven't tried yet, but appears that it will not be an issue with what I've done so far....... Hope this helps someone else too! Cheers!
