Mysterious audio playing when there's no audio in the channel Movie Edit Pro 2015

So I might struggle to explain this one. I have pictures to help. This is with MEP 2015 plus.

Where I have the video, in a few points in this project, audio will randomly play. It is audio from one of the files in rhe project, but it's not the one where the video is currently playing. If I mute the current audio object, the mysterious audio continues to play. If I remove the file altogether, the mysterious audio continues to play.

You'd think it'd be on a track out of view, but no, it playes when all the tracks are empty. It is definitely coming from the channel where my video is (you can see in the picutres below). Totally bizzare. Now, what is more bizzare, is that if I move the entire file into a new project, the mysterious audio continues to play in the same spot. If I select everything and move it within the file, the random audio follows the project, always playing the same thing in relation to the other objects in the file.

I've restarted the program... no luck. I have no idea what is causing it or what to do about it.

The things I've been doing in this movie are exactly the same as what I've been doing in other movies. I'm going to keep troubleshooting and report back.

So after some more fiddling around and troubleshooting I figured it out. Looks like it's a bug.

I had muted the audio object in a couple of files where I had sped up the footage past x4. Then, having forgotten that i'd done this after muting and activating a bunch of other files, I accidently reactivated and reset the audio objects on these sped up files.

For some reason, when I did this, the audio object acted as though the video file was at normal speed and was playing long after the sped-up video had stopped. This resulted in mysterious audio playing in the channel when there was no file there.

I'll call this a bug, because it definitely not suppose to play audio where there is no file in the channel. A bizzare interaction between the speed effect, muting, unmuting and reseting audio.

But, problem solved and I can finish my video. Yay.

Hi

. . . . .I had muted the audio object in a couple of files where I had sped up the footage past x4 . . . . This resulted in mysterious audio playing in the channel when there was no file there. . . .

It was there only the object graphic on the timeline shows it to be the same length as the video.

A bug ?  Probably - because another member has had a similar issue with audio and it can be reproduced.

From experience I find it is better to ungroup the audio and delete it when using the speed effect - unless of course you really want the audio speeding up / down as well.

Thanks John.

Yep, I should be doing that but I get lazy.

I forget that I'm going to need to exprt the audio for processing.
