My purchased download doesn't work

Greg-Roberts wrote on 5/8/2020, 1:27 PM

Hi,

I purchased sound forge studio 10 a couple of years ago and need to reinstall it on my machine as I have had to reform it. I go to my download area but all it downloads is 4.5mb, which I presume, is nowhere near the full size. I have tried installing this download anyway, but it won't work.

I have tried to contact magix, but they say I have to PAY to email them, as my purchase isn't recent enough!!!

So now I can't get something that I have already paid for with out paying again.

How disgusting is this 'so called' customer service?

Can anybody else help with a link to a full download?

Cheers

Greg

Not disgusting at all - you bought old software that was already out of the free support period.

Where did you purchase from?

. . . . download area but all it downloads is 4.5mb,. . . . tried installing this download anyway, but it won't work . . .

The first download is the Download Manager if it does not run, or runs then closes, check your Antivirus/Firewall program not shutting it down or blocking access to the Internet.

@Greg-Roberts

Welcome to the Magix forums.

That 4.5MB file is almost certainly the Downloader for the installation. When you run it it finds and downloads all the files you need and saves them to your computer, often to a Temp folder. Once it has completed that stage there may be a slight delay before it starts, automatically, to unpack and prepare the files for installation, followed by the actual installation of your software.

So, when you say the download won't work, did you allow it long enough to complete its work? Were there any messages on screen whilst it was working?

As for a direct link to the full download, since this is now quite an "old" version I very much doubt if such a link is available now.

Thank you,

I've run it as administrator and it's worked. Sorry for getting angry, but it's really annoying when I can't even email anybody for a solution and have to resort to going on a forum.

cheers,

Greg
