Hi

Use GSpot or MediaInfo to analyse a video clip to find out what is actually in the AVI file and post it here.

The AVI format is a container format and can have any codec inside it.

Gspot will also tell you if the codec is available on your computer.

Also you will find I have combined your posts for this question - multiple posting for the same topic should be avoided.

I seem to be having the same problem, although the length of the clip after import seems to be pretty random.

I'm using MEP MX Premium 11.0.3.0 (UDC2), and I've tried importing various different length clips and they seem to get "cropped" to anything between 10 seconds and 70 seconds in length. I've successfully edited these clips previously in MEP 17 and WMM.

I downloaded GSPOT as advised above, and got this:

I'm not sure how legible that image will be, but suffice it to say that teh avi seems good, codecs are installed, and it plays just fine in WMP.

Any ideas, as this is proving to be a real problem!

An update. This problem occurs only in MEP MX Premium on both my laptop and desktop computers. It works perfectly well (i.e. the whole clip is imported) using MEP 17 on the same machines.

Looks like a bug then!

Hi

GSpot indicates the file analysed is over 3Gb in size and consists of 4 parts.  This is consistent with the AVI 2 standard for files over 2Gb in size.

However it would appear that only the first part is readable with nothing following - this would be consistent with what you are seein in the video being truncated by MEP MX.

This could indicate that MEP MX is using the wrong, ie older avi codec, which can only handle 2Gb files.

To get more info from GSpot analyse the clip again and click the buttons bottom left of GSpot window for Video ie button 1 then 2 then 3.  You will get more info on which codecs are being used.

Have you installed any codec packs other than those that come with Windows and MEP?
