My Mic has a delay

I do not have an audio interface yet so I am using my front microphone jack.  While recording I only hear (what the mic is recording) in the left ear and there is also a delay.  When im recording i hit the note on my guitar and then i'll hear it in the left headphone.  I'm not really knowledgeable with this stuff.  I'm only doin this for fun. if someone could help I would appreciate it.  I have Windows & if that means anything and I'm using Magix Music Maker 16 Premium Download version.

hi r2kfinch

in my eyes, you should not search for the problem in your software. check your soundcard!

i have the same problem with my ext. keyboard.

take care!

Are you saying you are recording with your guitar plugged into the magenta microphone jack on your computer?  That jack is ONLY intended for the microphone that came with the computer.

How do you have the guitar plugged into the computer?  Is the guitar plugged straight in, or are you going through the Line-OUT jack on your guitar amp?

Do you have a sound card with jacks on the back?  Do you have a BLUE Line-IN jack on the back of your computer?

One problem is that electric guitars are monophonic.  The Line-IN jack on the computer is a stereo jack.  At the very least, you would need an adapter to go from the mono  Line-OUT jack on your amp to the stereo Line-IN jack on the computer.  There is also a guitar-to-USB cable being sold at any store that sell musical instruments that might work for you.

You other problem sounds like Latency.  The same question comes up AT LEAST once a week, so do a search and you will have your answer.

I only have the microphone plugged into my front green input jack for the mic.  The mic is on a stand which I have placed in front of my amplifier. Thats how I have been recording my electric guitar.  I will search for the Latency issue here.  Thanks for all the help
