My dvd burner is not recognice

I have window 8 profesional and using movie edit pro 2013 plus

when i'm finished withn the program and won't to burn it,

it coms up with DVD burner could not be found

Hi,

A couple of questions for you. Can you use any other applications to burn a DVD on your burner? If yes, which applications? If you are not sure because you don't have any other applications to burn a DVD, can you copy data files to the burner? Finally can you actually encode the project to a directory on your hard drive instead of the DVD burner?
