MX KF slider flaw

terrypin wrote on 5/15/2012, 9:43 AM

In MX the KF slider range right hand edge is no longer exactly aligned with the time slider. These two screenshots comparing MX and MEP17make it clear.

So, when preparing to place the RH KF either with the End key or by dragging quickly to the right and beyond, the resultant KF is no longer visible. You can just see a tiny part of it in my screenshot. Accessing it is then a pain. And at times, when changing the duration so as to make the RH KF visible again, the LH KF disappears.

Edit: This is more complicated than it first seemed. The extra bit on the RH end of the time range only appears if the object has been selected when no other objects are already selected. Such as by clicking in an empty track first. If an object X is already selected and I then click the target object on which I want to work with KFs, the flaw disappears, i.e. both ranges are identical.

Hi Terry

Checked both MX and 17 and both mine behave the same!!

What I am seeing in both MX and 17 is that when the timeline marker is at the 'end' of a clip, it is actually at the begininning of the first frame of the next clip.  The true end frame is one frame before and aligns correctly.

I seem to remember we had this discussion about a year or so ago on the old forum concerning where in the frame an effect started and ended.

Thanks John. Are you saying that in MX you never see the extra bit at the end as I do? I don't get that distinction in MEP 17 or earlier versions. They all line up exactly, regardless of the method of selection.

Heres a short illustrative video:

(Switch to HD setting if not automatic.)

Hi Terry

I have repeated what you have done and do not get the extra bit at the end.

When you get the extra bit at the end, does it disappear after a few seconds if you do nothing ie no moving the mouse or clicking,  or when you change to a different tab?

I suspect there may be an issue with some other software running which is preventing windows refreshing the MEP panes immediately.  There have been reports of this happening and the effect can be consistent as you have found.

Hi John,

Thanks for taking the trouble to test this.

No, once the extra bit is displayed, it remains if I do nothing.

As a further mystery, when I started MX yesterday and tried the same exercise again (with just 3 JPGS with KFs), I couldn't reproduce it no matter what series of clicks I tried. Then I closed and restarted MX - and it was back!

Since then every one of 3 or 4 sessions has had the issue. And it seems the same with very little else running. Go figure!

Magix have seen this before and using my feedback will hopefully be able to fix it.
