Rather than discuss this in the other topic about problems with MMM2021, first version, I'll discuss this here as it has other ramifications. The problem was partially exposed in the other thread whereby older projects that used certain Soundpool loops that are actually MIDI files (.TAK) could not be opened because they returned an error stating that a file cannot be found.
Note that I have the 32 bit bridge.
Part 1
Example, in a new project, Chillout Vol. 8, Strings, Homeland Strings (6) gives the following error message:
This is actually a Vita instrument, under Orchestral Strings, All Strings (Section). No problem in MMM2020.
I don't know exactly what MMM is trying to load, but it seems like it wants the old Vita with the old image file but can't load it, or the new Vita with an old file and can't do it, or something else.
We must be able to load the old TAK files without problem. Either the bridge should recognize this and properly load the instrument, or understand that the old instrument has been replaced by a new one and work, or Magix should come up with some way to allow us to modify the TAK files so that they load properly.
We will need this to be sorted out.
Note that some of the TAK files are actually Revolta 2 and they load Revolta correctly.
Temporary workaround, drag the loop onto the Arranger and change the instrument for the new version as I did in the screen shot above.
Part 2
This problem extends to trying to use Song Maker with an old Soundpool containing TAK files. However, here, there are some additional problems and messages that need to be cleaned up. I tried creating a song using Chillout Vol. 8 with the Chillout Template. I limited the instruments.
Here is the message that pops up:
Note the question "Do you want to change the VST instrument...." There is no "Yes" in the possible answers, which are all "No, create a new track instead." This needs fixing.
Later a slightly different message pops up for every instance of trying to use a loop that cannot properly access the instrument:
This extends beyond the visible screen. The buttons are all the same and make no sense. This needs fixing.
Temporary workaround, keep hitting the button until everything is on the Arranger and then change the instrument for the new version.
