MusicMaker Premium crashing on export to mp3

browj2 wrote on 9/6/2017, 8:57 AM

MMM Premium 24.1.6.127 on my Surface Pro crashes when trying to export a very simple audio object to mp3, sometimes crashes or just does not export to wav or to ogg. I have tried a couple of different projects at different times (after re-boots). The simplest is a 4 second sound using an instrument, no effects. I have tried different sample rates - 44.1 kHz and 48; same crashing.

However, exporting to wma works fine.

I imported the simple MMM project into Samplitude and exported to mp3 without problems.

I have not been able to test this on my desktop computer yet.

Anyone else experiencing the same problems?

Hi John.

I wanted to test this on my system so opened MMM Premium, which told me a major update was ready. So I downloaded the update but chose to delay its installation, imported a simple loop file, chose the same mp3 export settings as you, and MMM froze completely! In the end I had to force-close it with Task Manager but I see it is still listed as running in the Background Processes tab; maybe the update is being installed?

I will give it a reasonable amount of time to "sort itself out" (choosing End Task for the process gives a message that it cannot be closed) and if still no change, will consider rebooting the computer.

UPDATE: I see the Background Process has now finished so am about to try again with the Export test; watch this space!

Jeff

Further Update: No, the program update was NOT being installed! The download process has restarted. This time I will let it install the update and then see what happens!

Further, further Update: program now updated, mp3 export works as expected if Normalise is unticked.  I wondered whether that might be having an adverse effect (I know it shouldn't) but I first tried without Normalise ticked and the export was immediate. Tested again with Normalise ticked, and the program froze (it's still frozen as I write this).

And yet another update: exercise repeated with export to wav. Normalise off, no problem; normalise on, immediate crash but this time the crash reporter screen appeared so I have sent it to Magix with the information about the fact that selecting Normalise for exports will cause the program to crash.

Hi

No problem here with or without Normalization checked. Currently on version 24.1.6.127.

I have had other issues causing the program to crash eg using Echo on clip then cutting a section of it for replication, do the same except with Reverb works fine.

Hi Jeff and John EB,

That was it! I had Normalize checked. I just tested both and Normalize off exported ok.

I will also report this bug.

I quickly tried the Echo on a loop, cut it, copy and pasted further along the track, no problem. I'll try later with a recording.

Thanks,

John CB
