I purchased a Soundpool, "World Music - World Affairs," through the Magix Store within MusicMaker Premium (latest version - 24.1.5.112) and noted a big difference between what we got before and what we get now, which is why some users may be having problems. MMM Store puts the files under:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Soundpools\Shop\....
and the extension of the files is ".mxcogg." These all work fine in MMM. Changing a file extension to ".ogg" causes the file to become unusable and the following message appears:
Here is a screen shot of MMM with "World Music - World Affairs" (the Soundpool purchased through Store) and the object on track 1 is "Fingchange 6_mxcoff_001.HDP." It works fine, except that for some reason, the name on track 1 does not change to Bass but stays at Piano (this is a bug). I was also able to drag and drop an ".mxcogg" file onto the Arranger using Windows Explorer and it worked fine.
I tried importing both the ".mxcogg" and the modified ".ogg" files into Samplitude Pro X3 and nothing happened. Neither file showed up on the Arranger and there was no message. Adding the Soundpool to Samplitude in the normal way was unsuccessful.
It would appear that the SoundPools purchased through the MMM Store have a level of protection that allows them to only be used by MMM and only the latest version (2017).
A few months ago, I purchased a Soundpool pack that showed up in the Store, but I went through Catooh instead. All of the files were ".ogg" and the Soundpool shows up and is usable in both MMM and Samplitude.
I do not know if purchasing the same Soundpool through Catooh now gives ".mxcogg" files or ".ogg" files. It would be interesting to know.
I also tried importing an ".mxcogg" file into Video Pro X and the following message popped up.
The same message appeared using the modified ".ogg" file.
As for me, I want to be able to use the loops in all of my Magix programs, Samplitude, in particular.
Question:
Are the new Soundpools (those available through MMM Store) purchased through Catooh ".mxcogg" or ".ogg" format? Edit: Looking at the description of the same Soundpools in Catooh indicates that the format is ".ogg."
Comment: I will ask Magix if they intend to patch their other programs, like MEP, VPX, Music Studio, Samplitude Music Studio and Samplitude so that the loops work.
Otherwise, I have made my final purchase of Magix Soundpools through Store.
