MusicMaker Premium and Soundpools bought through Store - format mxcogg

browj2 wrote on 4/23/2017, 11:22 AM

I purchased a Soundpool, "World Music - World Affairs," through the Magix Store within MusicMaker Premium (latest version - 24.1.5.112) and noted a big difference between what we got before and what we get now, which is why some users may be having problems. MMM Store puts the files under:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Soundpools\Shop\....

and the extension of the files is ".mxcogg." These all work fine in MMM. Changing a file extension to ".ogg" causes the file to become unusable and the following message appears:

Here is a screen shot of MMM with "World Music - World Affairs" (the Soundpool purchased through Store) and the object on track 1 is "Fingchange 6_mxcoff_001.HDP." It works fine, except that for some reason, the name on track 1 does not change to Bass but stays at Piano (this is a bug). I was also able to drag and drop an ".mxcogg" file onto the Arranger using Windows Explorer and it worked fine.

I tried importing both the ".mxcogg" and the modified ".ogg" files into Samplitude Pro X3 and nothing happened. Neither file showed up on the Arranger and there was no message. Adding the Soundpool to Samplitude in the normal way was unsuccessful.

It would appear that the SoundPools purchased through the MMM Store have a level of protection that allows them to only be used by MMM and only the latest version (2017).

A few months ago, I purchased a Soundpool pack that showed up in the Store, but I went through Catooh instead. All of the files were ".ogg" and the Soundpool shows up and is usable in both MMM and Samplitude.

I do not know if purchasing the same Soundpool through Catooh now gives ".mxcogg" files or ".ogg" files. It would be interesting to know.

I also tried importing an ".mxcogg" file into Video Pro X and the following message popped up.

The same message appeared using the modified ".ogg" file.

As for me, I want to be able to use the loops in all of my Magix programs, Samplitude, in particular.

Question:

Are the new Soundpools (those available through MMM Store) purchased through Catooh ".mxcogg" or ".ogg" format? Edit: Looking at the description of the same Soundpools in Catooh indicates that the format is ".ogg."

Comment: I will ask Magix if they intend to patch their other programs, like MEP, VPX, Music Studio, Samplitude Music Studio and Samplitude so that the loops work.

Otherwise, I have made my final purchase of Magix Soundpools through Store.

Hi John CB

Interesting - there have been two other members with topics here and here, who have the reverse issue with mxcogg files in MMM Premium purchased through the store, in that they are unuseable unlike yours.

Hi John EB,

Yes, the other two posts was one of the reasons that I posted this message. I expect that these new file types do not work in older versions of MMM. I don't know how recent this file type is with MMM, but it may be that it started part way through the year and that those who do not have the correct patch have a problem. However, Wanderlust indicated on March 29 that his version was patched up to date, so it's hard to know what went wrong.

I just checked these mxcogg files on my Surface Pro and they work fine in MMM with the same patch as on my desktop.

While I was looking at MMM, I recalled another bug. The spacebar almost never plays back when pressed, except if the parameter "Spacebar stops at current playback position" is checked. Have you found this as well?

I also checked Samplitude on the Surface Pro and it does not accept the mxcogg files.

I haven't tested MMM2016 yet, but I don't expect the loops to work. I'm in the process of exporting a video to mxv that contains Neat Video on almost every clip of a 20 minutes movie. Expected export duration is 4 hours.

Hi John CB

As the in program store appeared in MMM Premium along with the mxcogg file extension, I would agree with the assumption that the format is locked to Premium only and will not work in other versions.

OT:

Funnily enough I have spent most of the evening doing some serious Shot match on some video clips taken under water at the Barrier Reef, the water was very turbid and green due to storms days before we got there, and de-noising using Neat Video needs some serious time to get a good de-noise profile, even had to resort to the tutorials and need to redo many of the clips.

Here is an example

So what is the fix why can we not use .MXCOGG files in other programs ??? after all we paid for them

johnebaker wrote on 6/26/2017, 8:49 PM

Hi

.MXOGG files are locked to Music Maker Premium ( 2017 ) and cannot be used in other programs.

The only way to use them in other programmes is to export the loop as a .wav file which can be quite time consuming and tedious. I have yet to find a batch converter.

Why do you reply on a almost 2 year old thread? You can simple download them in WAV or OGG in the newest Music Maker 27 or from producer planet.
