Music Maker won't play live sound when monitoring or recording MIDI

Music Maker 15 Premium - Keyboard strokes register but there is no live sound.  Will record MIDI from on screen keyboard or attached keyboard, but there is no sound when you are entering them (pressing keys) "live", although you can hear sound when you playback after recording. Any help?

Hi

I assume you mean Music Maker 2015 Premium  - if so please use the full name or abbreviate to MMM 2015 Premium to avoid confusion with earlier versions.

Without more information I can replicate this problem by changing the audio playback settings.

I would suggest your audio playback settings are incorrect ie they are set as shown below

you will not hear the instrument while recording - only on playback.

But set to either of these you will hear the instrument as you record and playback.

If this does not help the please provide more information on your audio settings, sound card and which instrument / synthesizer you are trying to record.

Thanks for the response, but my setting is as you recommended, Direct Sound.  I have tried the two options of Primary Sound Driver and Realtek High Definition Audio for audio playback, but it makes no difference. Output Device is Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. Input device is AKM322.  Both the MMM2015 software keyboard and the AKM322 register when the keys are depressed, but no sound emanates.  But the keystrokes are recorded, and can be heard when played back.  My sound device is listed as "AMD High Definition Audio Device".  I also have Realtek High Definition Audio.  Would appreciate any other ideas to fix the problem.

Hi

. . . . AMD High Definition Audio Device . . . .

Are the following all true:

  • the AMD HDA is part of the graphics card?

  • your monitor (or HDTV) connected via HDMI?

  • the audio is being sent to the monitors speakers over HDMI?

If so then see this article.
