Music Maker vs Music Studio for complete recordings, which to buy?

Hi, I'm wondering whether to purchase Magix Musix Maker or Music Studio and what's the difference between them? I would like to record real guitars and vocals by plugging them into my laptop and create multitrack recordings. I would also like to be able to program synth/keyboard and basslines too. It looks like both programs can do all these things so why are there two different products?

Thanks.

Hi,

Both can do what you want, however, MusicMaker is not considered to be a real DAW, whereas Samplitude Music Studio (SMS) is a DAW. It's actually Samplitude with many features disabled. You can do much more with SMS than with MusicMaker. I have Samplitude Pro X3 and MusicMaker. I use MusicMaker a lot just for putting together loops, of which I have many, or quickly recording MIDI. Anything complicated, I do in Samplitude.

With MusicMaker, you can only record to one track at a time; several tracks (8 stereo or 16 mono) at a time with SMS. So, if you want to record from an external keyboard using a VSTi with MIDI and record audio at the same time, you can't in MusicMaker.

If you want to do sophisticated editing, including having multiple tempos in one project, you need SMS or Samplitude.

Right now, the very best deal that you can get is this:

Offer expires on Dec. 2, maybe.

Either way, you can download the free version of MusicMaker and the trial version of SMS or Samplitude and try them out.

Also, look at the tutorials, at least the Introductory video, to see what each one does:
