@RGBstardestroyer

Welcome to the Magix forums.

Wherever MM was originally installed, some entries MUST be written to your computer's registry which is, by default, on your main (internal) drive, along with certain program-related data. When the external HDD failed those registry entries were NOT changed. Hence, any attempt at reinstallation will lead to the error message you are seeing.

The solution is to ensure that everything connected with MM is completely removed form your internal drive, including ALL relevant registry entries. BUT, that latter stage is potentially fraught with danger, as in, "damage" to the registry can render your computer completely unusable and necessitate a complete reinstall of Windows and all programs!

So, I suggest you download and install Revo Uninstaller (I suggest downloading a free trial of the Pro version because it includes an option to "remove remnants of previously uninstalled programs" which is, essentially, what you need it to do. Should you decide to keep and buy the Pro version, IMO it is well worth the cost!) You will need to point it to "MusicMaker.exe" and let it find everything connected with the program - it will show you on screen exactly what it is proposing to remove, so allowing you to agree, or otherwise, to all its suggestions.

Once it has finished, reboot your computer and retry the installation. Note: you will need to reinstall everything, including soundpools and instruments, but once you enter original your serial/activation code everything should then be available to download and/or install.
