Music Maker complaining and destroying projects

Cloudglow wrote on 11/8/2022, 11:09 PM

I have bought MM Premium 2019 and now upgraded to Premium 2023. When I was using 2019, Music Maker kept complaining about 32bit VST plugins and didn't let me open my project. I didn't even have 32bit VSTs. Which by the way were working with my Premiumj 2019 (before MAGIX came up with the idea that you need to buy some VST bridge or similar to get the 32bit plugins working).

Ok, bought the Premium 2023 now and it still sometimes complains about that same thing. But that's apparently not enough, now it complain about tracks (see image below).

Magic Maker has also destroyed my projects, so that it can't open or play them. It also has a gift to destroy the backups often. So many hours wasted for nothing. Now this is just ridiculous. I suggest MAGIX stars paying attention to Music Makers' bugs (which are numerous), instead of just selling and selling new add-ons and stuff. What are they good for when the DAW itself is a mess.

@Cloudglow Try opening the program settings and click on the button to clean up the store.

Thans, will do. I did it already earlier but costs nothing to do it again.

@Cloudglow

Hi,

I presume that you hid your email address in the screen shot, correct?

On the same screen, at the bottom right, what is the version of Music Maker? The current version is 31.0.1.13.

Try first opening a new project, not an existing one. Check the Store - sometimes it takes a while for the Music Maker to catch up.

When everything shows up and you are logged in, go to Project Settings, shortcut A. Do you have access to more than 8 tracks? Mine shows up to 99 tracks.

If you have access to more than 8 tracks, open an existing project. It should work.

Yes, I hid my e-mail because that's irrelevant. I have latest version. I have bought unlimited tracks earlier, but isn't it included with Premium edition 2023 anyway.

Also, I forgot to mention, sometimes when I open a project and start playing it plays 2 seconds or so, then just hangs with audible infinite loop. Then I need to force close Music Maker. Awhile ago it did that, then I restarted MM opened the same project and it played just fine.

One thing's for sure, backups need to be made. MM can just crash anytime anyway.

On the contrary, Premium Edition includes unlimited tracks, as does Plus Edition.

I forgot to mention, sometimes when I open a project and start playing it plays 2 seconds

So, what is the status now. Do your previous projects now work?

For the 2 second problem, is it just with certain projects? Did you try creating a new project using the same material to see if it hangs?

What material? Soundpool loops, your MIDI or audio recordings, etc.

We can't see your screen and we don't know what you've done. If we don't have the same problems, then it's something on your side with the hardware, OS, material.

In addition to @browj2's comment - did you install all the extra downloads after upgrading and activating Music Maker with a new serial number if you had one in the confirmation of purchase email.

"Premium Edition includes unlimited tracks", yes that's what I said.

No my projects which MM destroyed don't work.

Freezing does occur randomly with any project.

About the materials, I use materials which MAGIX provides.

"What material? Soundpool loops, your MIDI or audio recordings, etc."

? Yes.

"We can't see your screen and we don't know what you've done. If we don't have the same problems, then it's something on your side with the hardware, OS, material."

Yes, "if you have.." - well many people do, nothing special with my hardware, also isn't the software supposed work as long as computer requirements are met? Well MM has problems, I'm sure aware of that. It's pointless to to start searching problems with user's machine, when it's obvious where the problem lies.

Some other bugs I've enbountered; there's also a problöem when openinh MIDI window, it sometimes doesn't show the notes, which are there. Reversing samples also don't work as Rewind function hasn't worked for a long time. Then there was this this bug where sample names didn't show correctly, I got that fixed, thanks to a helpful user here in this forum, just neede to change one line in .ini file.

My question is is there anybody working on these and trying to fix these problems?

Hi

Is this the same computer as your previous issue, which is similar, back in 2018 and did this get resolved.

Yes, I have installed everything which I got from last purchase. Didn't need to input any serial number.

"Is this the same computer as your previous issue, which is similar, back in 2018 and did this get resolved."

Not sure what you mean about 2018 issue. I was talking about MM Premium 2019, that had the VST issue (if that ia what you mean), but that happened also with MM P 2023. Lately I haven't gotten the VST warning window though.

One question came to my mind; Is it possible to change certain keyboard keys with which are used to control different functions in MM? I'd like to change zoom from ctrl+alt+shift+mouse wheel to something else because it's pretty much most used function when it comes to using arranger.

@Cloudglow

Hi

. . . . I'd like to change zoom from ctrl+alt+shift+mouse wheel . . . .

You could, however there is an easier way to zoom in/out both vertically and horizontally- hover the mouse pointer over the zoom controls for the appropriate zoom direction required - see below - and scroll the mouse wheel.

If you position the timeline cursor first the zoom in/out will centre on the cursor.

Does the second question mean the first issue is solved?

Not for a scroll mouse, you would need to use an external, programmable controller such as a Contour Shuttle or similar device.

I have another problem, with videos this time. When loading a project, the video works, but if I close the video window and open it again, MM do not show the video again. I have to restart MM to get the video back up.

Hi

I cannot replicate the video monitor issue with .MXV files.

What make/model(s) is/are the graphics card/gpu(s) in your PC and are the drivers upto date?

I have AMD RX 5700XT, haven't updated drivers for awhile though. If you can't replicate the issue, then it's on my end. Maybe I do driver update and see how it goes.
