Music for FREE game

Hello

I'm using magix music maker for a long time, of course just for myself and to upload it to the internet. My friend wanna use some of my music and sounds for his game. Can we do it without buying a license?

IMPORTANT: He won't sell his game anywhere and won't gather any cash from doing it. Game will be free.

Hi

Very unlikely - the standard licence for Soundpools loops etc are for personal use only.

By strict interpretation of this, as you are not the end user of the music created you would require the appropriate licences.

Are you using soundpools or just the VSTs? If it's all original composition using the MAGIX instruments or third-party instruments, then you're fine to do what you please with it, even for a commercial game. Not Soundpools though, not without a proper license.

That said, if the game is free I don't see MAGIX having a problem with it either way. But John's interpretation may also be true.
