Hi Ronald,

I think that you're talking about Pinnacle Studio's Scorefitter, correct? Scorefitter was/is great but Pinnacle got into a dispute with Smartsound and had to cease making more. Too bad. The only program that I know of that does what you want is Smartsound (music files are expensive). There is no Smartsound plugin for Movie Studio and won't be. Smartsound has stopped making plugins for video editors. I still use both occasionally. For Scorefitter, I export the audio and import it into Movie Studio/VPX.

That said, if you're using other music, then the only way to end smoothly is with a fade-out. Just grab the right fade handle and drag it to the left.

Movie Studio has SoundTrack Maker under the Wizards. Even with this, I find that I have to fade out, and there is no fine adjustment of the duration and it will usually go beyond what is asked for because of beats and bars. It actually uses Magix Music Maker.

Lastly, there is Magix Music Maker in which you can create you own songs using Soundpool loops (my preferred method) or Song Maker which allows some leeway in duration - limit the number of verses, intro, breaks, choruses, outro, etc. Even then, some editing is usually required, including fixing endings. Export audio, import to the video editor.

There is a way to go from the Timeline in Movie Studio to Music Maker, but the return has been dropped and you have to export/import, unfortunately. Going from MS mixes down the video with audio and opens the mixed down file in Music Maker for scoring. The second tutorial that I made shows how to do this. I guess that I should do a new one as both programs have changed quite a bit in the last 10 years. But, the principle is the same.

yes yes and yes. that was one thing i did like in pinnacle. for some reason i thought music maker was included with MS but i don't see it unless i was thinking about some other program . i really liked smart sound as well.

i forgot to ask... i downloaded a bunch of royalty free music . anyway to bring them into the audio menu in 2025? all i can seem to get in there is free music. i would like to import my music files into that menu

I don't think you can bring them into the audio menu but you can create a link to the folder they are saved in.

On the import tab, click on the icon I have highlighted below.

This will change that Import tab to show all the drives on your computer. Simply select/highlight the folder where your music is saved and then click Alt+Shift+J and a direct link to it will be added to the Import tab.

Finally, click again on the icon I previously highlighted and you will return to the "normal" Import screen.

Simply select/highlight the folder where your music is saved and then click Alt+Shift+J and a direct link to it will be added to the Import tab.

Even simpler: right-click on any visible folder in the Media Pool and click "create link for folder".

To delete a link when you've finished with it, RC it and choose "Delete link".

Hi Ronald,

If you downloaded content from Magix Hub (Storyblocks music, videos, images, etc.) it will show up under Magix Hub in the import tab. The location on your hard drive should be under your documents, Magix, program name, MAGIX Content, assuming that you accepted the default locations during installation.

The Audio tab is for audio purchased through the in-program Store. These files are stored under:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Videocontent\program name\ShopManager

These files will have the extension mxcogg, which is a proprietary format to dissuade piracy. However, anything purchased through the Store will also show up in your account on Producer Planet, where you can download the zipped ogg files, or possibly wav files that are unlocked. You can place these wherever you want on your hard drive and create a link to the location.

You should have some free music and sound effects under this tab to be downloaded.

Another audio thing that I do to get audio that I might like that is with any of the Film Templates Basic, just run it and its content will unzip with the audio under the location of your Magix nle documents/projects. Same for the other templates, Editing (film) Templates Basic, but they have of varying durations. Then you can use these however you want.

So, lot's of ways to get audio content.
