MS 2023 - crossfades produce jumpy sound

Michal-Matula wrote on 12/16/2022, 4:27 PM

Just bough, and now Im sorry I did. I been using MS for years last version was 2017. I understand that sometimes the PC has problem rendering the preview. But these garbled and skipping sounds propagate to the rendered output files.

The crossfade is simple - split the file, grab the right edge and push the edge until the point I need to resume the video and push the right segment back together and past into the left segment to create the auto fade. Like I have done for years.Obvious to state that the sound is perfect pre and post the fade and obviously is perfect when the files are side by side (not faded) Attached is the output.

@Michal-Matula

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

I have recently had similar problems and I'm not sure whether this is a problem with the program or the more recent updates to windows memory management system. This only occurs when the same clip is overlaid with the same clip and the audio portion is relatively close to the last section. I think this is caused by the program trying to read the same data twice and 'mixing' the result.

The only way around this I have found is to duplicate the file giving it a different name (same number of file plus a B at the end or similar for instance) so that the two files are on different parts of the drive. Then splice those two files together. If you place one file directly onto the track beneath, you can bounce back and forth between the two tracks without further problems.

Ray.
