MP3 help

James-Alexander wrote on 12/24/2019, 7:55 AM

Greetings!

I am stymied by an issue with MM19 Premium. I purchased the software in November and was successfully exporting to mp3 format, but now even after updates when I export (to any format for that matter... not just mp3) it only compiles about 45 seconds worth. I have looked at all possibilities such as the bars not extended over the whole project and have ruled that out. Any thoughts out there?

Thank you!!

James

@James-Alexander

Welcome to the Magix forums.

First, can we establish exactly which version of MM you have? You write of MM19 Premium; do you mean 2019 or literally, version 19? Help>About will tell you and us. The latest release version is 28.0.2.47.

The situation you are describing strongly suggests that your installation of MM is running in some kind of "Trial mode". When you bought and installed it did you enter the supplied Registration key and complete the on-line registration process? Did you also download and install all the Additional Content that should have been available?

It might also be helpful to we fellow-users, and relevant, if you were to post full details of your computer; this post will give you some idea about the depth of information which would be useful.

Thank you for the quick response. I am away from my computer so I will add those details when I can. It is the 2019. The registration key seems to be in place. My computer is a rather basic Windows 10 w/ 4 megs of ram. I am not a super technically proficient person but have used previous versions of MM on previous machines so I am pretty familiar with the software.

thank you!

Forgive my pause in response (busy with the holiday etc) but I am operating the most current version 28.0.2.47. And I purchased the premium version.

Every attempt to export to any form of audio normalizes until it hits about 17% then goes into mixdown. Basically about 45 seconds worth of audio for that particular track. I see nothing indicating I am in trial mode.

I try to put in my activation key again and it tells me it is already in place.

thank you for any insight!

@James-Alexander

Can you explain what you mean by this:

Every attempt to export to any form of audio normalizes until it hits about 17% then goes into mixdown.

Both "normalize" and "mixdown" have quite specific meanings in audio applications but neither seem to fit the sense of what you are trying to say here, sorry. So, can you give rather more details, please?

Thank you.

To specify, when I go to “file” then “export as mp3” it starts the process of creating the export file. It starts with “normalizing” starting at 1% then 2% then 3% et cetera until it stops at 17% then goes to “mixdown” starting at 1% then 2% et cetera til 17% then stops and tells me the export is complete. What I am left with is an audio file that is only 45 seconds long, which is, oh about 17% of the length of the song. The yellow bar above my tracks covers the whole length of the song so I know that is not the problem. Does this help? Thanks!

@James-Alexander

Thank you for that additional detail. It makes the whole process that you are seeing much easier to understand.

I know you mentioned in an earlier post that this problem occurs whatever the chosen output format. Can you just check: is it exactly the same with, say, .wav as the chosen export format? Does this export also "stop" at 45 seconds?

If it does, I would be very interested to know if there is "something" in the file, at that point, which might be causing MM to believe the normalisation etc. is complete? Do you have any other software that you could open the source file(s) in? Can you export the whole file there?

One other thought: if you go to Help>Activated content you should see a screen like this (I have erased my own personal serial keys from the screenshot). Does each entry include the green tick at the end of each line?

If each and every line does have the tick, then I'm honestly out of ideas!

If one or more doesn't have a tick, or if you can see that one or more versions of MM is missing from the list, you need to go to Help>Show start dialogue>MAGIX account and enter the appropriate serial number on that screen and click Activate.

If none of the above works, my only other suggestion is to raise a Support ticket via the Support button in the footer of any forum page.

Okay I am baffled, but ultimately this worked: I just set the orange bar for a small fraction of the song beyond the point of 45 seconds and exporting worked successfully. I then zoomed out to have the whole song visible and reset the orange bar to cover the whole song again and lo and behold it did a full 100% export. I just think there must have been some glitch that toying with the parameters seemed to work through. Anyhow I am grateful for the ideas and assistance and mostly for your patience!
