John, thanks for the reply, currently running a Acer Aspire 6 and looking to buy Movie Edit Pro 2022 Premium new laptop unknown as of yet as still looking, likely to be similar i5 or i6 256/526gb SSD and 16gb mem. Will need to move to the new laptop and not sure how licence key works and if it would be transferable.

Hi

You can install the software on 2 computers using the same serial number, once you have done this you can de-activate the old laptops version in your account at magix.com under My products.

For MEP 2022 you are going to need a good laptop - see my signature for the specification of mine on which MEP 2022 runs very smoothly with 4K video editing.

You also need to ensure that if there are 2 GPUs in the laptop, as mine, then that they are both active - some manufacturers tend to disable the Intel iGPU, from my research before getting mine of the manufacturers I asked none replied or did not know (?). Lenovo are the only manufacturer who openly advertise that both iGPU and the Nvidia are active can be used together, that way you gets the best of both worlds.

The 512 GB SSD would the minimum I would go for and preferably a second drive - 1 or 2 GB hard drive for data - I use fast USB3 external drives on mine.

Just for accuracy: there is no such thing as an i6 CPU and the larger SSD is rather more likely to be 512GB than the stated 526GB! If that is the only drive in your laptop I would strongly suggest you consider at least a 1 TB drive as it is really quite amazing how fast hard drive space is used when editing and exporting video! Better still, also consider purchasing a large-capacity external USB3 drive for storing your video files.

As to the licence question: once purchased you will receive a serial code/licence key which will allow you to download and activate the software from your online account to a maximum of two devices. So there should be no problem in installing MEPP 2022 on your new machine once you have bought it. At the time of downloading the software to that machine, in your account you will see the facility to deactivate the installation on your older machine, which I would recommend that you do if you will definitely no longer need it in order to ensure that, should any reinstallation be needed at any time in the future, you will have one activation still available to use.
